Whitney 's voice is something rare even in operatic notes, in my opinion. She is the one who made the world hand down by her very emotional tone at the first verse of I will always love you. Technically, we can find many awesome opera singers, but it is hard to find any tone like Whitney, she sings operatic notes so emotionally like a real voice in a non operatic pop song. Another song is Exhale, her falsetto is like a mixed one between opera and non opera, but still made the song popular which no one can sing like that up to now. Thickness, tone, emotion, technique, all are combined and balanced, vulnerable and strong, from high class to popular listeners, those are all combined in The Voice Whitney.

@@TheMastersuperblaste tho I agree also with leos they have a hidden insecurities (as we all do) for example i remember her stating in an interview as a child when singing people would be judging like "is she as good as dionne" or "can she sing like her mother". Then outside of that she werent black enough, then was too ghetto. Kevin Costner ref was firstly to her being good enough to do acting. Even when she started out singing her mother had to fake being ill so whitney would sing lead and she that she had it. She was comfortable then doing backing vocals. So tho she had a great gift alot of the time we aren't aware how great we are until others say or notice it. @@TheMastersuperblaste As a fellow leo that confidence does sometimes come from a place of deep self insecurity. But specifically whitney houston was always extremely self conscious. I remember on her documentary one dude who knew her when she was very young and just on the scene noticed how anxious she seemed about tiny details down to the correct fork to use. Growing up with cissy houston as her mother and in the church there is alot of constant pressure to perform and appear a certain way which can drill into you even after you come into your own.

Excuse me sir, but no. Whitney was great but not to that level. She is one of my all time favorites, but to state she could be bigger than Pavarotti is not accurate at all.

Excuse me sir but yes. Whitney can do it all, ballads, opera, dance, gospel - pop…. Pavarotti is obviously unbelievable and I’m not doing him down, but he isn’t versatile at all. Whitney is. And smashes it.

@@JakesSake Sir, I see your point and I am not in any way trying to bring the Voice Miss Whitney Houston herself down or disrespect her and you either, but we are not sure if she could have ever sung full super incredibly difficult arias such as "Queen of the Night" or "Nessun Dorma" with all the intricate technicalities and periodicity they require from the vocalist even during her prime and in the Italian language. Although I am not a musician or singer myself I will always admire, respect, and look up to both of them in professional and personal terms, but if Maestro Luciano Pavarotti had his own limitations our beloved and dearly missed Whitney Houston did too. All in all, they are both now, together with Miss Aretha Franklin, part of World Heritage.

i'm utterly blow away by how she just casually joins in and sound better than any other opera singer iv'e hear to date :O the crazy talent this lady had blows me away, i wish she would have done an album of each genre of music including opera, it would be like the bibe of how to sing, she could do anything

I cannot get over all of em! I was actually shocked at Sting. No one wants to give Elton is dues, they were all amazing ESPECIALLY MY GIRL WHITNEY! Pavarotti is that a dude for hearing merging 3 other genres of musical singers who didn't think they had opera in them!

right! WHitney could easily have been the biggest selling female in music ever... if she had released every 2 years.... and christmas albums, and live cd, in the first 15 years of her career.... she sold what Madonna and Mariah did with 8 cds vs their 20+

Whitney can be a successful model if she continued her career, She can be a diva of opera singer if she wanted to. Talent, beauty, body, Whitney had it ALL AT ONCE.

Never seen this before, and I'm impressed! I knew Sting and Whitney could sing, but geez, didn't expect to ever hear them singing opera, and doing it so well! Sting at the end was flipping awesome! They all did very well, and looked like they were just having a blast.

I urge you to check out the link below to her live 1986 cover of 'I am changing' (from the Broadway show, Dreamgirls, originally sung by Jennifer Holiday) and let me tell you it is fucking INCREDIBLE! It is 10 minutes of her showing off some serious, virtuoso, deadly operatic chops (male and female style) Start it at the 2 min mark and listen up to the 14 min mark. You MUST hear it. I'd love to know what you think. kzitem.info/news/bejne/rX-qqp5ti51hYKw
