The city of Whittier, in Alaska, has a very strange feature. Almost all of its population lives under the same roof. The Begich Towers were built after World War II by the United States military. But in the 1960s they were abandoned and left for the civilian population.
Today, the inhabitants of Whittier don't have to go outside to go to the store, the parish, the hospital or the city hall. And, instead of crossing their neighbors at a traffic light, they cross it waiting for the elevator.
In addition, the isolated city every night. A tunnel links it to Anchorage, the capital of Alaska. But, both cars and trains circulate, and every night the passage is closed.
