From the 1938 film Girl of the Golden West staring Jeanette McDonald and Nelson Eddy. Nelson Eddy sang it in the film as although they recorded together she apparently broke down emotionally and spoiled the take. It is not often heard these days. I heard it on the Doris Day/Andre Previn Duet recording of the 1960s (one of her finest records).
One of Romberg's most harmonically stunning songs. The first 16 bars are divided in to 8 bar sections in different keys resolving back to the main key before the bridge. The 8 bar bridge is in yet a different key again.
Surprisingly, this seems to be the only piano cover on KZitem currently. I could not source a score so had to do my arrangement by ear. Previn and Day did it in B flat but I chose C major for piano. It's a one chorus song but I have included a 16 bar semi improvisation if you want it longer. www.mediafire.com/file/qf2kp2...
