"Shahn's work was about raising our awareness of the suffering of working people." Where's his photo of me? 😂😭 I appreciate his heart for the working class and the artistic tension he's conveying here. I loved seeing the comparison of his portraits and their painted versions.

This also makes me think about bubbles (like the bubble of the art world) that I'm part of, and that it's not always easy to realize how small they're.

opposed to the concept of the WPA to document social reality, it seems like the force of corporate america in modern times is to do everything to hide, conceal, or narrate against the realities ... and the materialistic narrative is that art is a competition for investors to decide winners and losers, not for public spaces where reality should be discussed, witnessed, and urged forward towards greater social progress.
