Years ago I had a set of Maremma/Akbash Livestock dogs 2 females. They assisted with deliveries of goats. They would pull babies and placentas. At that time I had more goats than you do. These dogs are amazing and clean everything up. One of these dogs I caught with a dead baby trying to revive it. I have come to realize after 30+ years with dairy goats to ALWAYS give your Livestock Dogs the benefit of the doubt. I am currently on my 4th set of Livestock Dogs.

Dogs will clean themselves and their puppies. In fact, I’ve known them to clean stray cats. But I have never heard of a regular dog trying to hurt any type of baby, especially one like Enoli, who is raised to protect these animals. They will give their lives to protect the lambs, so I would never think they would do otherwise. Enoli did what she was trained, and her instincts told her what to do. Help the mama, then clean up after, including the babies and the mama. You can relax Enoli is doing her job.

We have had Great Pyrenees for many years, they don't attack what they protect. They are highly intelligent and she sensed the doe was in trouble and her instincts kicked in and she knew she needed to do something to save mom and the babies. And they are know for cleaning up goat babies and even other dogs puppies as well as kittens. They are Gentle Giants...unless something or someone threatens what they love and protect, they will die to protect. I've had one when one of my dogs needed a c-section complete care for the new borns, cleaning and keeping them warm until mama was able to care for them. More than likely she saved your doe's life. And took care of her until she was able to get back on her feet. This has been my experience over many years of owning Great Pyrenees.

Watch to be sure, and move the girls, but Enoli was in protect and serve mode... Im so sorry about Cochise. I have a Pyrenees mix, and he's a really smart house dog (i know he needs to be in a field but I don't have one and he was a last minute kinda rescue so he's my big baby). My kitty died the other day, and they didn't get along at all, but when she died, he sat under where i had her in a box until i took her outside and buried her. He still looks for her in my bedroom, too. These doggies are only aggressive to predators from what i can tell.
