I have built a whole corporate network with top of the line Mikrotik routers and switches. Their high-end routers are made in Latvia and the quality of manufacturing of these is really good. Their switches (even top of the line) are made in China and the quality of these is lower, I had to perform few repairs out of the box (3 switches out of 11 needed repairs). Fortunately their hardware design is very repair-friendly, so I did not even bother with warranty service. Importantly, before you buy, ask your distributor where the warranty service will occur, because most of them will tell you that it will have to be sent to Latvia, which is not the fastest option if you are in the US. Also, if you are planning to perform advanced configurations using their scripting language, be prepared for tough-to-find reference information and some strange execution bugs. Overall, I am still sticking with this brand mainly because they are honest about selling you hardware and perpetual licenses, not subscription nonsense. (Disclaimer: I am originally from Latvia, so I might be biased).

You managed to make configuring Mikrotik easy for beginners. Good job, excellent material. Your videos are used on Mikrotik forum as tutorial for beginners, especially on VLANs.

I missed the first video update. I am watching that and this now. Thank You. If possible, please work on providing certification for free or discounted offer or something like that. As a fan and a Systems Engineer I can benefit from this. I would be very happy if you would be kind to provide low cost or no cost certification options in future video. Its a request. Thank You for all the nice videos. I still use tips from some of your old videos for my Mikrotik router in my homelab and for my clients as well..

I got MikroTik certified last year. Is there much demand for these skills? Where might I look for a job that requires MikroTik skills? Thanks for the excellent videos!!! ❤

Look for Network IT specialist jobs. If they require Cisco certification, just put up you Mikrotik certification, as the basics are pretty much the same. Some HR departments put Cisco as requirement because of their wide spread acknowledgment even though they may actually have Mikrotiks.

I feel Mikrotik needs to improve on its router products, especially for the home-pro / small business consumers.

No they don't, they already have a complete line of cheap routers for that (like the RB-750) ranging from 30-60€. I know because I exclusively work with several in my home network. Now if you are referring to plug&play made for people that have zero knowledge of networking, go elsewhere. With Mikrotik you need to study and put in time to understand how it all works. Once you get the hang of it you can do what you can't do with other p&p routers and the greatest thing of it all is you can upgrade your router to a more potent one and still use your configuration with very little changes. I used to work as a network specialist for a business ISP and we also used them for banking clients, that's how reliable they are.

How so? They already have the best routers by miles and miles, *especially* for SMB.
