Hey Iron 🐺...nice new format lets see whats comming...but one thing: in this video several times you mention the daily training and when I see which volumes you crank out every time I only wonder about the recovery part...most/ all trainers I listened so far are very certain that strength and endurance are build at that recovery time...the unhealthy variant would be performance enhancig drugs...but you are completly natural ....everyday joe ( or mr. instagram fitness tuber ) sure need a few days of sleep if he attempt one of your workouts...( that u do every day ) ...maybe u could tell us how you worked yourselves up to such extreme volumes ...with not much of recovery at all and this besides a physical psychological demanding job as a soldier in afghanistan...reminds me of david goggins ...another mystery

My brother asked me to take a look at your videos. He's 51 and can still hold his own. He keeps up with you. We trained with Russians since childhood. I was an 0341 from 81-85. I grew up in the Sheapshead Bay PJ's on Nostrand and X. Went to Grady HS, got a GED then went in the Corps at 17. I boxed in the Corps, was a BB in Taekwondo, then trained for years, along with my two brothers, under one of the best coaches in the states, Gennady Fabrikant. We trained out of Barodin's Muay Thai on Ave. Z and E. 23rd St. Oleg Taktarov was our top competitor so it was a trip to roll with him. The UFC demands that KZitem take the videos down of Gennady walking Oleg and Moti Horenstein into the Octagon. They maintain strict control with their content. Oleg took the UFC title while training with us. Strange, hard looking older men would walk in off of the street in dress clothes, have a small chat with Gene, then suit up. You would find out the hard way that it was just another world class Russian athlete that was now cleaning the mats with your body. Maybe they were Georgian, Belarus, Russian, from Kazakhstan, or from Russia proper. From all over. 55 years old and still tossing us around. They were all world class athletes when in their prime. The training was brutal. I'm old school. A Beirut Vet. I became a PE teacher with a Masters in Athletic Training, was a strength and conditioning coach, track coach, handball coach and ran PAL boxing for awhile. I worked a lot of the doors at the clubs in Brighton Beach. Oceana Atlantic, Rasputin's and The Winter Garden. We played Ft. Ham in handball, another huge Brooklyn sport that I insisted my athletes play. We used to get destroyed by Ft. Hamilton in handball. I remember telling my Grunt buddys that after deployment, I would take them to a place called Bay 1 on Brighton Beach so they could see that unlike the Wendy's commercial told them, Russian girls weren't overweight and dressed like peasants. We came back from Beirut in April 84. I had these Bubbas on Bay 1 in July of 84, looking stupid and out of place. It was like Ibiza. We went back to Lejeune from a 96. Nobody believed these three dudes from the sticks regarding how georgous the girls were on Brighton. It was the Cold War era so you know how that goes. In fact, when I enlisted, the Corps ran a story on their first recruit entering with me who was born in the USSR. Times surely changed. My Grunt pals were tripping out when two NYPD cops on the boardwalk were speaking Russian to each other. It just confused people that weren't from Brooklyn. Marines at the time thought we were at war with anyone who spoke Russian. You know how it goes. They would ask if you're going to let Ivan just sneak up on you at night while on a LP. They had switched from Charlie to Ivan in the early 80's. I used to laugh because I had about 10 friends named Ivan back home. The community evolved around me since I was a little kid. It was normal to me. Good times. I have some good video of our training with Gennady, if I ever could link it. Yes, the Russians train hard. From every country from within the former USSR. I know them all by memory because I grew up with, and trained with them often. You really find out who doesn't get along with another when you work those clubs in Brightin Beach Ave. That's another misconception about the Russian community in Brooklyn. It's very diverse. People are proud of their country of origin and it usually wasn't Russia per se. I went from Riker's Island to Parris Island within a few weeks after beating a case. I understand the hanging with knuckleheads part. It led to me never drinking a drop of alcohol while on active duty. Keep representing BK. You're putting that work in. Maybe get on the bags some day too? Just some food for thought.

Thank you for writing this very long and detailed post about your life and your experiences. It’s funny because I did kickboxing at Borodins Jim around 2004 before I joined the Marine Corps couple of years after. Reading your post brought me back to the time where I grew up as well because I would hang around Brighton Beach, Coney Island, Bensonhurst and bay ridge. I’m glad that you still remember all of this andGot to experience that part of New York has very few people really understand the dynamics of that city and how things operate. I feel closer to you because we share the same experiences and then you will not understand the grind of Brooklyn, all the personalities and the life of the city. I love Brooklyn and that’s where I’m going to go when I retire. I hope this channel helps you in someway I would love to hear again from you.
