Agree. Here he is at barely 30 years old-- full of life with a gleam in his eye. A man in his prime. 20 years later he would be dead of a heart attack...a wreck of a man, only 50 years old. The Hollywood life of booze and drugs got him.

An elegant and masterful scene. Dramatically and skillfully staged and maybe even well written. Directed beautifully and brilliantly acted: Claude Raines, Basil Rathbone, others and of course; the incomparable Errol Flynn. Hollywood at it's former glory best. Lol! Terrifying torture for anyone with that much courage: The rack, drawing & quartering, disemboweling to putting somebody in a tight black hole in the bottom of a castle and forgetting about him . . Awww, screw it. What the Hell.

I love this scene. This scene reminds me of the Bible where Elijah confronts King Ahab and warns him what is going to happen if he continues his wicked ways. In Robin Hood's case, he is simply warning Prince John if he continue his wicked ways, then Robin Hood warns him he will retaliate in the name the of people. Kinda almost makes Robin Hood a religious figure in a way.

I was lucky to see htis on the large screen in college. when marion declares 'you speak treason' and robin responds 'fluently' the crowd cheered. my sympathy is with the bishop, although John's lackey and a knife at his back, when he confronts john there is fire in his voice. "Is it of your own free will you thus depose you brother richard the lionhearted?" Robin Hood of the Ballads say King was Edward.. a Prioress of Kirkly..here we go.. a Prioress is a woman in charge of nuns.. and Kirkly in 1400s England during reign of King Edward means "Church Fields".. later on, that place Kirkly was renamed the Benefice of Lower Wensleydale.. there are 6 churches there that make a face.. Look at St. Marys Church.. just about 350 yards east is Hornby Castle.. Home of the Conyers at one time.. Sir John Conyers Jr was the Robin Hood of the Ballads aka Robin of Redesdale.. just not the first to use name... he was leader of the York Knights.. Sir Robert Hulderne was Robin of Holderness..he was Captain of the York Rebels.. there is only one record of a man using name Friar Tuck in 1417 and 1429.. Sir John Conyers was in mid 20s age when he met Friar Tuck age mid 50s : ) .......................
