Rise Splinter wasn’t even interested in being a mentor until he realized that his family legends weren’t bullshit & things were about to get dangerous for his family FAST. He never put training onto his sons (like it was done onto him.) until THEY asked for the training and was actually invested in doing so. Sun Wukong from LEGO Monkie Kid is actually a great mentor. Constantly encouraging MK and giving him stuff to improve on with help on how to do that. Plus whenever particular dangerous threats arrive from WUKONGS past, he does his best to keep MK out of it. He falls short in the fact he’s terrible at communicating & overcompensates for his past mistakes, only making more. He genuinely cares about MK tho and you can tell he’s TRYING to be better.

all might IS a bad mentor. letting kids hurt themselves more when he knows he should intervene. not teaching basicaly anything to midoriya about one for all so he had to figure it out with other teachers. even letting midoriya overwork himself before giving him the powers. somehow endeavour teaches more to midoriya in one interaction with him. all might is a good role model and hero. but as a mentor he seriously lacks.

@doctorofskillz2932 Can't remember what it was for but I'm pretty sure it was pretaining to LBD's return. Wukong can't always be there which is why he's training MK in the first place

Honeslty Wukong is the type of guy that could be the best mentor, but all of his personal baggage holds him back. He left mk in the dark for most of season 3 in his own attempt to keep the kid safe because that’s what he does. When he doesn’t know what to do he pushes people away. Not to mention he was gone for most of season 2, leaving mk to be on his own because he thought mk could handle it Wukong isn’t a bad person. I’m sure he’s trying, but he has the tendency to have poor judgment and react in a way only he knows how, which is being distant in a weird attempt to be protective or to teach someone something. Bro really got me flabbergasted for how he acted in season 3 and I’m so glad he’s starting to heal in season 4. I think he will be better, both as a mentor, as a friend, and as a person.

Rise Splinter was doing the best with what he had. He was a movie star who got tricked by a Spider yokai, dragged to a world of monsters, forced to fight said monsters, experimented on by a psychopath who wants to kill humanity, turned into a rat mutant by trying to save the turtles injected with his DNA so they could be forced to take over earth, and had to raise these four in the sewers because neither the Hidden World nor Earth would let him or the turtles just live. He is shown to be clinically depressed with awful body dysmorphia, but despite that, he still made damn sure the turtles could fight in the only way he knew how, showing them his movies, and not even getting mad about them beating up villains until he found out they were literally tangled up with the psychos who made his life hell. He did not flinch in the movie about helping them defeat the aliens who he knew could wipe out humanity without a second thought. Rise Splinter is an amazing character and more people need to see that.

Look, All Mights training was literally being kicked into the walls and floor until he figured out how to hit back and dodge. He mastered One for All easily and sure he might only have like five different moves, but when those five moves always work, why would you invent new ones? On top of that he is struggling to balance his responsibilities as the number one hero, a new teacher who wasn't offered help in learning how to teach, and coping with the weight of society's expectations of him as an unstoppable force, knowing full well that he is barely holding on. He is literally carrying a nation on his back with chronic health problems and juggling 20 new students at the same time, with his only learning experience being his teacher throwing him into fights until he figured it out. Of course, he started with a battle trial when he learned by fighting. Also he'd just lost the woman who was basically his mother right before Gean Torino trained him, so I'm pretty sure grief, nausea, and time probably distorted a lot of his memories of training to be a hero and how he figured it out. He is doing the absolute best he can, and to be fair, it WORKED. Class 1A was trained well enough to survive their first villain attack and every attack that followed and for all that everyone credits Aizawa, remember that it is YAGI who actually trains them in combat, with Aizawa being their homeroom teacher. I'm not saying Aizawa didn't help, but primarily, it's Yagi's job to train the students, and clearly, he did a fantastic job given that none of them have died yet. (Except Bakugou, who somehow died twice but was resurrected, but honestly, anyone, regardless of training, would have had an equally likely chance of death in those scenarios.) I am tired of everyone dissing All Might for being an inexperienced teacher when A), it's not his fault that he's inexperienced, and B), his methods have successfully kept his students alive. He taught them everything he knew how to teach and was smart enough to outsource what he couldn't. Never forget YAGI called Gran Torino to train Midoriya DESPITE being terrified of the man because he knew his teaching methods weren't working. It doesn't make you a bad mentor to seek out help for training your student. There's a reason you have multiple teachers for different classes, after all.

I don’t think his that bad, In my opinion he just hides stuff if he is a bad mentor he wouldn’t be helping MK when he got attacked by macaque and tell him “just defend yourself lmao” he literally reminded mk what to do while Mk was about to finish off macaque, he somewhat tries his best and hell even when Swk was out he gave Mk what to do in order to improve his skills and not die easily. Swk is just cocky and a liar (so he doesn’t worry Mk) he does care for Mk and wants to try his best at teaching him every power he knows so he can save the world himself he never wanted to hurt Mk since it just happens that he just get dragged into a situation In conclusion Swk is an ‘ok’ mentor in terms of teaching.
