Jim is such a good sport and want's to support you and your hobby/job! I like how you separated everything out. I have straight friends who also do that. We have everything in one account and take out or pay our bills thru it. Any extras we each take out as we want and if it's something over a certain amount we talk to each other first. it works well for us and it's been 33 years. I keep a small checking account for my craft items which I sell and I use that for Christmas presents or birthday or whatever. It fun to see you both together.

If we have to deposit a check, we can take a picture of the check and deposit it that way bc we live far out in the country and our bank is about an hour away. We kind of switch off things we each don't like to do. Finances I'm good with and hubby takes care of any things I cannot or won't do. So it even out. Good to see you both! My mom and her second husband had a joined account. It worked pretty well between the two. Once in a while, they would sit at the table. They talk about what was coming in and what was coming out. My mother was taking some notes and she would do the transactiions herself. On my side, my partner takes care of monthly recurring bills. I takes care of my own bills and things for my 2 daughters like summer camps and classes. No joined account for me. I don't have the patience (and communication) a joined account require.

In my first marriage, we worked the finances the same as you and Jim, my 2nd marriage, my husband took care of the finances and we had just one joint account. As far as being old school, the park here deals with cash or check and I haven't used checks for many years. I have everything I can on auto pay and use my debit card all of the time for purchases, I carry little cash. With the park accepting cash or checks, it's been difficult. On Wednesday, I opened a checking account with a local Wells Fargo, so I'm now starting to move finances from MN to So Cal. It's a process.

Haha, I still use checks for most of my bills and mail in. I don’t like auto billing because when there’s a dispute they have your money first; I feel like I don’t have control of my outgoing expenditures. But there are some bills like Netflix, Sirius etc that require autopay. I’m old school, still enjoy writing checks, but only for bills. Otherwise I use my debit or credit card for everything, do not like handling cash!

I will use my credit card on something that cost money, even though i have money in the checking account and once that bill comes and is credit to the visa account i will pay it from checking or savings. That gets me point on my awards and then at Christmas time i use those points for gift cards be it food or shopping. We do the same for the Wifes credit card also. we never let the cards get under a $200 limit cause years back they cancelled one for not using it. I also think this has kept our credit scores in the 800's which helps. Great video. and nice mountains views.

I have just realised I don’t know most of my friends addresses because I was using email all the time. I realised I miss letters - a written letter is much more personal. A lot of my friends think I’ve lost a screw or two, because when I mention this to them there always saying,” Just use email”. They don’t get my point. I truly miss the personal nature of a hand written letter. I think it’s sad.

I think contributions from both is nice. If you have an individual hobby or travel alone or just a side trip or whatever go to dinner. It's tricky here but I think you should pay for your own hobbies. Dinner out or day trip than go dutch . Sometimes you may need to help each other out that's all good too. Hi Norm, our home is 15 years old, very well insulated and only 1250sf. In the summer our AC is on 24/7 and includes the pool pump, which is on for 6-8 hours, our computers, tvs, etc. This last year is finally reached $500 per month. Less than half that the rest of the year. Older and larger homes would be higher. Hope that helps.

I'm surprised cheques still exist, I really thought it would be something banks would have done away with by now, but I suppose there must still be a use for them. Our stuff has always been together, I couldn't be bothered with this is mine and this is his, having everything as "ours" works better. I have to admit to not understanding the American cheque account thing and balancing it. Surely you can do online banking and see a copy of your statement and spends there without having to sit and do figures? I'm with you Steve, I hate figures, they are scary things LOL. As for questions, The same one I always ask .. Out of all the famous graves you have visited, who would you most like to be able to sit and chat with and what would you ask? Thank you 😊
