I was Michael's age when this came out. I had the biggest crush on Michael. You're right. The Jackson 5 really blew up after this performance. They were huge!! They became automatic teen and preteen idols amongst us Back girls that year. I went to their first concert tour at Madison Square Garden that year in 1972. The crowd was jus fanatic. Absolutely unbelievable!! I'll never forget that concert or that crowd reaction to them.

I also saw the j-5 at Madison Square Garden. Believe it or not, we (Mom and me) were in the very last row all the way up! I think it was in 1972. We may have been there on the same night! For those of you who've never heard the whole song "Who's loving you," I recommend that you check it out. Here they're only doing a small clip of it. It's really impressive.

This was the time of sweet & innocent Michael with his brothers. You could see his great talent & charisma even at this young age. The Jackson 5 had a lot of hits in the 60's-70's such as "I Want You Back", "ABC", "The Love You Save", "I'll Be There", "Mama's Pearl", "Never Can Say Goodbye", "Sugar Daddy" etc. Michael Jackson's solo career started in the 70's with the songs "Got to Be There" & "Ben".

I have watched their performance of "Who's Lovin You"? numerous times, and MJ's voice still gives me goosebumps on this song. His voice was crystal clear and so pure. That's why there was no surprise that he became the King of Pop. He was immeasurably talented. He was destined for greatness. 🙂

Thank you KeV and DaVe! For reacting to this otherworldly beautiful songs ! Yes you are right world has gone crazy about Michael after that performance, 'who's loving you ' is a cover of smoky Robinson song, he watched this and asked how old Michael was and learned that he was only 11 years old and said he sang it like a 45 year old would, it shows what a genius Michael was from such a young age, thats why Michael is the one and only king of pop forever ❤️🙏👑🤟✌️🦋🌻

When this aired I watched it live with my 5 sisters and when I tell you we went insane that does not even begin to describe it. The Jackson 5 and The Osmonds were so huge that many people today probably would not understand it. Music was not accessible anywhere near where it was today so these variety shows were everything and viewership was astronomical for its time I read once.

Saw my first J5 concert at 4 years old in 1971 and it set me up to be a lifelong fan. I saw multiple concerts in L.A. after that (Destiny, Triumph, Victory; even flew home from college in TN TWICE - MJ got sick and the Thanksgiving shows had to be rescheduled in January - for the last two dates of the Bad Tour.) Many years later, I got to spend 5 days at Neverland. Yes, it was every bit as surreal as you could imagine. And I'm nobody special btw lol. Chris Tucker was a friend from before he was famous and we were working on some stuff at the time, so I was just really lucky.

Yes, the Jackson 5 were like the Beatles... they had their own cartoon and so many TV commercials. Aside from four number one hits, they have a smash Christmas album they play every year. Over the next two years, they also had their own Las Vegas TV show. Sold Out concerts all around the world.
