I’m a die hard Yankees fan and New Yorker but this is getting annoying. It just comes off salty and biased. If I had to answer being unbiased who do I truly believe is the overall better player it’s Ohtani. If you asked me could Ohtani do what judge has done is the same situation and vice versa…Ohtani could do what judge does in the outfield and at the plate or be similar in stats but could judge steal bases and be a starting pitcher like Ohtani the answer is no. That should honestly be the end of the debate right there

Judge is not a top tier outfielder. Shohei loss his MVP a couple of years ago to Judge even though he had much better stats than Judge other than record HRs. Going by the same logic, Shohei's new 50/50 record should win the MVP.
@snerdterguson
8 сағат бұрын
He didn't have better stats other than HR. He also trailed, significantly, in ISO, RBI, OBP, SLG, OPS, OPS+, wRC+, bWAR, fWAR... And the WAR for Judge was just him hitting. And it was higher than Ohtani had with his hitting and pitching WAR combined. And this season, Ohtani has Judge on steals and triples, Judge tops him everywhere else and not by a small amount. And judge may not be top tier defensively, but he is still an above be average defender at a premium defensive position. He has no errors,gets a good jump on the ball, is better at robbing homers than anybody, has an absolute cannon that the league has learned not to run on.

That “if he wanted to” argument is crazy. If he could do something to help his team win more games then he would, because he already wants to win more games. Judge is not a good enough runner to steal more than 20 bases. And even if he did he would have a lot worse of a steal % than Ohtani and be running into outs all the time as a result, costing his team games. Ohtani’s 50+ SB is both an amazing number of steals and he is not costing his team by going for it because he is so good at it to begin with. Unselfish baseball while chasing a milestone.
@TheBlackWaltz

Ohtani has a 92.87% success rate. That's good for top 5 ever for seasons with 40+ steals I believe. Ichiro has the highest ever at 95.74%. That's an absurd thing to do for a player who is 6'4 and has 52 hrs. Acuna only had an 83.9% success rate last year. That should help put the stolen bases into perspective.

MLB should have MVP and Best all around player awards. I will not change my mind that a DH should NOT be a MVP. That is just my opinion and I do not want to fight with any Ohtani fans boys. You can not take anything away from 50/50+ season, and that is where the MVP and the Best all around Player award comes into play. I know MLB will never do that but it would be nice. MVP is the most valuable player to the team, homeruns and stealing bases is great but without playing the field is a big part of it. Maybe I am just an old head stuck in my ways. Every time someone on here does not think he is the MVP starts fights and nasty comments.

My friends steals are the least important in the hierarchy of production. A walk is the same value as a steel. And Judge has 50 more walks than Ohtani. Ohtani has 40 more stolen bases so even then Aaron Judge is better in that category. On top of that judge is better on every offensive category and can play defense in all positions outfield this season. Let’s he robbed a two run Homerun and double played someone a few weeks ago.
