Riding the new 2015 Honda CB300F in the Bay Area. Lots of people bashing on the little thumper and that it can't hold its own on the freeway, so here's to them.
Perfect example on how to ride a bike the ultimate WRONG way! Failing to identify hazards, no consideration for others on the road and more, your licence should be suspended.

No that's not efficient, it is very dangerous to you and others. I ride using strategies depending on the road, weather and the number of cars. But yes I ride defensively and almost never in the left lanes or even the middle as that's where you get into trouble. I almost always stay in the right lane as that gives us the largest bale-out area in the event of trouble. It's easy enough to go around the few that are coming on the on-ramps. But I mainly stay away from trouble as I ride like I am a Ghost!! I don't depend on anyone seeing me, this way there is no blame to pass on others but only to me if I feel invincible (like you do) and assures me that I will not hurt anyone else. I can tell you're young, so I trust you listen up a bit so you can enjoy the ride as long as I've been able to...jmt

This little bike definitely does freeway speeds, at least the freeway speeds here in the US. Took one out for a spin recently and it did 80 fairly comfortably, though at high revs. Though I will say that it struggled maintaining 75+ when I was riding into a strong headwind (probably about 15 mph winds) because I refuse to tuck.
@mannydcbianco
8 жыл бұрын
100% agree. It's not made for freeways. Just saying though, it WILL do freeway speeds (70+ mph/110+ kph) if/when you need it to. It'll have to work for it, but it will do it.
@mannydcbianco
8 жыл бұрын
Sure, all those things are important too. But it will do freeway speeds, when needed. I would not agree that top speed means NOTHING, that's a ridiculous assertion. Oftentimes being able to get on the freeeway for 5-6 miles can cut the ride time in half, as to compared to sticking to the service roads and sitting at traffic lights. And since it can keep up with traffic on the freeway it's also not dangerous as opposed to having a bike that will only do 50. I would not get a bigger, heavier, older or more expensive bike just for those 4-5 miles of freeway riding once a week. Instead I'd take the CB300F onto the freeway, get up to speed, and get off a few exits later.

I've owned like 6 bikes and I feel the ninja 250 has more power. I have a 700 Honda magna now, and just got this cb300f and it's a good commuter bike but it lacks power. Long term freeway use is a little spiffy, as vibrations and wind feels like it will tip me over, the suspension is tuned for commuting.has made it hard for me to go from cruiser to sport but it's also for commuting so not recommended for hitting corners. Don't get me wrong I love the bike, but when I was watching your vid, you put yourself in a lot of situations where you couldn't get out of. It's not a muscle bike or a super sport. Cruising 70 max seems ideal for the engine. I got it up too 95mph being my second day of ownership. My magna 125mph no issue. Very torquey. Remember Ride safe bro.

I'm sure glad my state (AZ) does not allow lane splitting. Thousands of riders would be killed within a few weeks. All it takes if for one car/truck to move over just a few inches, and they do that here all the time. Even in CA you are breaking the law, as they tolerate lane splitting only up to about 30 mph. You also obviously have some kind of death wish. As for traffic not recognizing that the right lane is for slower moving vehicles, despite the zillions of signs that say "slower traffic keep right" and the fact that it is in the drivers license book, You are seriously risking your life by riding 65-70 in the right lane when the speed limit is 75 and most traffic is going 85. I have actually been rear ended twice in cars going 70 mph in the right lane by some idiot doing 85, also in the right lane. Drivers in lifted crew cab trucks are by far the most aggressive drivers in my state, they will drive right over you. They are also the worst roadhogs and tailgaters.

@PokeyCottons

+Matt Bianco I agree about the confidence that comes with alertness. But, I don't like when people who are racing around expect everyone else to be rushing like they are. I'm OK with someone driving fast if they're courteous, but I'm not OK with people coming within a foot of clipping another car to make their passes and raging when other people are driving at a more relaxed pace. That's part of what makes people say "Hey, what a dick head!". It's not as much about the speed as it's about coming into other peoples' personal space, reducing the margin for error and putting each other at risk. Not everyone has the energy to be hyper-aware all the time! Respect the fellow men and women.

@ItsJustMilkISwear
7 жыл бұрын
+ScottScott75 its safer for the rider to lane split, because getting into a minor fender bender that would otherwise be fine for a car, could totally squash and kill a motorcycle driver. having cars stopped behind them provides a protective barrier. that said, i think people are upset about it in this video because he was lane splitting between cars that were a little too close together.
@dlwatkin

That and, there's no need to be splitting like that when traffic is moving along. People tend to lane change slower but the risk of injury is really high for minimal gain. Most lane splitting laws restrict it to traffic moving under 30mph and only 10-15 mph max above everyone else.

CA is the only state where "splitting lanes" is legal (and statistically safer than being stopped among other vehicles) but only when traffic is moving less than 30 mph (not 70!) Honking your little horn at someone moving into your lane is not always an effective tactic. CB300F can maintain 70-80 mph, but can it share the road with large semi trucks doing that speed and the wind they produce?

+Lane Splitter it's ignorant to say nobody was cut off when you are entering a driver's path at 75 miles an hour with only feet to spare. common courtesy, any MSF course, and common sense will advise one to use a blinker for at least a second or two to communicate intentions to other motorists. Not only do you give other motorists the common courtesy of forewarning of your intentions, but instead you put everyone in both lanes at risk should another driver be forced to veer our react to your actions. It's very easy to see and understand. It is no different that the car that shoots a gap to squeeze between you and a semi - it puts you at risk by not giving time to react. It is rude and very unsafe. Confidence on a bike should not mask the immaturity displayed in this video.

I'd like to see you lane split like that in Missouri especially by the Branson area. Because if people in cars see you they will sandwich you like cream between two Oreos.

Lane Splitter name brand or generics?

This bike has way too many computers. I ripped a nastie burnout, and and shut the engine off right after I drop the clutch on exit. Super light, 167kph, by far the best bike I've riding for cornering.

Felipe, you can remove the handlebar end weights on both sides... that will give you an extra 2.5 inches of clearance when squeezing between traffic! :o

Honking at 4:20? Driver did nothing wrong. They actually changed lanes correctly, slow and safe. And they changed lanes before you started splitting. Just sayin!

Those lane splits on the highway... you have a death wish. Sometimes its better to wait or go around the cars.

My friend has this bike it has good acceleration and torque but it lacks at top end as my ninja 300 passes it easily. Cool and fun little bike hes already popped some wheelies on it

The R3 specs are nice I'm not much into the body though, it looks like it sits lower as well. So far I've got it going 110...BUT at 105 it takes a bit to get that extra 5mph. Fun bike def worth the money.

For everyone complaining, this is SF and you have to live here to understand why people drive like this. Its a crazy city to ride a bike, everyone drives crazy and abs is a must have.

I own that bike for now 3 months, and its a real pleasure, great bike for a beginner like me, I enjoyed you video and the riding style as well. Do you know any exhaust or slip-on that would fit the bike for a ittle extra power and a bit louder noise?

Felipe Pucci Man I wouldn't do it. . .like you said it's a lot of money for what in the end won't sound very good. But it will be loud and that could be useful when filtering. . .

Felipe Pucci The zip tie trick worked for me after I put on stainless lines on my fz09. . .you know zip tie the lever down and leave it for a while to let any bubbles go to the top--gave me a more solid feel. When I first got the bike the front brake lever felt really spongy. I know what you mean motorcyclist mag said the cb300 had the best brake feel!

Lane splitting is moving up in heavy or stopped traffic. This is just reckless riding. Fingers crossed you're still in one piece since this was posted. With your riding style. it's just a matter of time...

Cool bike, I'm looking into getting the same one soon! I was just wondering, does driving at that speed daily damage the bike in any way? Thanks for the great video, cheers!
