A good bit of detective work Manuel. Also thanks for showing the strip down procedure in such detail. Very helpful for future reference. Those switches can be very tricky and have caught me out on many occasions. Onto part 3 now. Cheers Graham

Another nice restauration, Manuel! I have restored a Grundig Satellit 3000, which looks almost identical to yours both inside and out, except mine is silver on parts of the cabinet. Mine had a couple of switch levers broken also, and a broken shaft for the BFO control. I found this to be a minor concern, I listen to the ham bands (but have better gear as well..) Mine had a jammed drum tuner, one of the dial plates was loose, easy fix. Apart from this and the usual cleaning of controls I had a switch lever I could put in (the "ANL" is still missing, but not important..

The power/amp board looks a bit difficult to work on. I'm a bit like you in not trying to remove wires if possible. I'm pleased to see that those broken switches are only cosmetic damage and I'm sure you'll do a great job in repairing those. I would still like to own one, seen one for £100 and another for £200 excluding postage. They both look clean externally. Your videos were excellent for the 2100 and we save the 3400, should I buy one.

I’m sure a plan can be made. Stefan from Germany says he has spares, and Rod from Ireland actually had his daughter 3-D print some switch levers. This hobby is becoming more like an underground movement than a social media community 😊

You can just hear the conversation of the designe engineers .hows that control board going bill yer good .look undo four screws and it's out. The outer guy shakes his head .no that's to easy hide one of the mounting screws under a hard to get at plastic clip .that you need to assess from the front.thats hidden under another circuit board .

Manuel, may I aks what capacitor did you used as a replacement for the large 4700µF, 25V Capacitor on the power board? This form factor doesn't exist anymore and I can't find one with a similar raster size either. Is the only way an axial cap with a bent down minus pole?
@electronicsoldandnew
3 жыл бұрын
No, O I used a normal radial cap, and just connected the “+” and “-“ to the proper points. The existing one has various ground (or case) tags that served to add stability to the cap, but with the newer and smaller caps, you don’t need to worry about that.

Hi there, I have a Grundig satellite 3000 which is the same as the satellite 3400, but with mine one, I need all the wave bands realigned and the bandwidth switch needs changing and the presets buttons need changing on the FM, also I would like the SW drum tuner cleaned and refurbished on the contacts. I live in the UK could you give me an estimate of the repairs? Thank you for your help, Kamil Mustafa

The way the switch contact positions are shown, makes me dizzy! From the diagram I can't make out if switches A, B and X are interlinked or separate. :-(
@electronicsoldandnew

Yes, it takes some studying to get it all clear. On the switch diagram, it tells you what position the schematic is drawn as.
