I'm Japanese. Thank you for the wonderful video. As a fellow Japanese,I'm proud of him. There are a lot of great designer in Japan. I want everybody to know. Let me apologize for my poor English. 素晴らしい動画をありがとう:) もっと日本のファッションの素晴らしさを海外の方に知って頂きたいです!
Shawn Stussy aw man.. the harajuku culture changed the way i thought about fashion. what happened to gwen stefani happened to me. all of a sudden dropped in a world or mix and match, cosplay, punk, goth, lux, etc.. platform sneakers, high waters, paul smith socks and pucci scarves... love love love😫💗👍 hysteric glamor tees💀💯

Yohji Yamamoto's outlook on women's clothing is so cool. "Coats for protection from the wind or men's prying eyes..." Not many guys have a dislike for feminine clothing. In fact, many complain about how few women are wearing skirts and dresses these days. I'm in high school and get bullied mercilessly in school for wearing primarily black, dressing kinda androgynous, not wearing makeup etc. I don't know if only being raised by his mom has anything to do with it, but Yohji Yamamoto gets it. I HATED wearing skirts when I was a kid. Hated sparkly sequins, almost every color, frilly shirts my mom made me wear.... It was way to exposing. I always wanted to dress like my favorite role models, which happened to be guys too, since I listen to a lot of rock and metal. I think I dress the way I do now as a way of covering/protecting myself, my personal style, and because I just don't like being looked at in general lol. As mentioned, his views on women's fashion are very protective yet rebellious, which I find highly respectable. I'll buy some pieces one day. Great video

I’m in awe of Yohji Yamamoto. And I find his view of women’s clothing very aligned with how I think of it. I love what you’re saying here and why you’re drawn to his designs. My family comments that my clothes is sad/drab but I don’t think so; when I’m in public I’m in black, white and draped layers. Sometimes with one solid color or a bit of plaid here and there. Either way thanks for sharing your views.

MY MAN, should've mentioned that women that wore yohji/cdg were considered "the crows" since all black was only considered for funerals in Japan in the 80s

I am confused now. Isn't white the colour of mourning in Japan? Or is it black now too? There certainly was a time, I thought it still is valid, when white was worn during mourning as symbol of purity and rebirth.

@@t_h_e_v5000 White is Japan wedding costume and black is the funeral. But in Chinese culture white is for funeral.

Summed up everything I’ve seen on him. Love how he thinks mysterious is sexy. And the acceptance of androgynous clothing, because after all, it’s just material around a body.

I really need to get over to Japan to explore... I feel like they have such a different view of fashion which could really help shape a different point of view. Yohji as well as others design so well and learning about there backgrounds really helps, awesome video. Now for some more research.

Man i really fancy a pair of Y-3 but whoa those are expensive in my size! I'm having a battle in my mind as i don't need them, i'm not a sneaker collector but i do have 4 brand new shoes in the boxes so i think i'll wait for a bargain. Good video though, i didn't know a lot about the man at all this was really informative and to the point, best way to make YT videos quick and the facts no filler.

What is the beat in the background? I swear Logic rapped over it or something, it seems very familiar. Also, my favourite part of Yohji's design is generally the way his trousers are cut and styled. It's just unique enough that it really stands out and can add a lot to an outfit without looking too 'out there'.
