Given American support of the apartheid movement, I would think that it is politically motivated for different reasons to have it taken out of the curriculum. Interesting fact; you can go to Boston and take a tour of the guys house, and also the cemetery where he was buried. During said tour you can also learn about how he almost ruined everything after he was captured by the British during his ride. After being captured and threatened, he revealed so much information that there was a rumour going around that he might be a spy for the British (which was later disproven) but if the British had been faster to act, he literally told them the entire battle plan for the American forces, and how they planned to execute it. So perhaps one of the more risqué examples of an American hero... He also went on to lead a disastrous campaign against the British which got him court-martialled and dishonourably discharged.

It was an entire team that made it to Concord at different times. Dawes and Revere were captured at Lexington. The best part is that people believe that he yelled "the British are coming". He and the colonists were British so imagine how confusing that would be. Additionally, he would blow his cover and get captured faster if he yelled to an entire town. He already got arrested without yelling. Some sources said that for his intel debrief he said "the regulars are coming" but I can not confirm the exact words...since I didn't live then. This incomplete version was taught to to most of us as children because there was so many centuries of history to cover in school from 1st-12th grade. Revisiting history in college is mindblowing for some topics because you don't realize how they choose to censor some sections of history since we were seen as not the appropriate age to know of all violence. I agree that by high school or college history should be retaught fully uncensored because we are adults or young adults and should be encouraged to understand the magnitude of what really happens in wars, the dark truth of conquests and developing nations. All that censorship even through high school has caused college kids to be required to be given "trigger warnings" and "safe spaces" after learning about real events because they can't handle the truth as 18-22 year olds. Either way this was used for Patriotism. People only know what they are taught because they only care for fast information. Not everyone is interested in doing further research on the actual facts in history because it's not as interesting or it's harder to rhyme a name. Thank you for pointing that out. I bet there are many viewers that still won't believe it and will be critical without researching.

Revere got captured during that ride. Samuel Prescott made it all the way to deliver the message. Another guy named Israel Bissell rode for hours to warn people in Philly of the news. Revere was a patriot for sure but others deserve some praise here. Plus, it’s doubtful he would’ve been shouting the British are coming since at this time they were still colonists and considered themselves to be British...it’s actually more than likely that he wasn’t shouting it at all since the ride definitely wouldn’t have gotten far if that was the case.

No wonder less kids have national pride and think our constitution is wothless or outdated. We don't say the pledge anymore in most schools even. So odd how that is when u think about it... Are you still sure we aren't in a crazy 50s style battle against communism now? Or have you not realized we have been infiltrated from the inside so where the commys left Russia, they've been coming to power from within our own country! So it's more time than EVER to nuture our childrens patriotic pride! Since when is that a bad thing anywhere but here or Europe now? If anyone here doesn't love our country then they should go somewhere else. But everyone wants to come here because of our freedoms. To maintain freedom, you must keep the masses educated. Or we lose it. And or we get infiltrated. Then we aren't America anymore. We'd be a soicalist/commy version which is what we all USED TO CARE ABOUT FIGHTING! Ok, wrap your mind around that. Someone needed to let you know... I bet you are a dem if I had to guess and BO psyop'd you too into forgetting about real commys wanting to take down America. Slavery was the fault of Africa for selling their own people, we paid the price according to the deal presented to us. There is no obligation to make slaves citizens, but we did so for a strategic advantage against the south. Manifest Destiny was important in securing Amercia's sovereignty and uprooting the old tyrants that were established for centuries by bloodline. No country has the right to declare immunity from warfare as competition of civilization is what advances humanity. Internment camps was absolutely necessary. I am a Japanese American and what we have today with muslims is what we would have had in the mid 20th century if we did not concentrate the Japanese. We forget that in warfare citizens are not immune. Most people around the world see the citizens of the enemy county as part of the enemy. We think terrorism is new, but it is as old as war itself.

For example, over 7000 Americans die each year on average due to mistakes caused by barely legible cursive in the healthcare system. An estimated 1.5 million Americans are injured or improperly treated for the same reason. Electronic writing is superior in almost every conceivable way, and it is the way future work environments will communicate. As such, it's how we should be teaching our children to communicate. If your kid wants to take up calligraphy as a hobby, they should do it in their own spare time.

Paul Revere (December 21, 1734 O.S. - May 10, 1818) was an American silversmith, engraver, early industrialist, and a Patriot in the American Revolution. He is best known for alerting the colonial militia to the approach of British forces before the battles of Lexington and Concord, as dramatized in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, "Paul Revere's Ride" (1861). Revere was a prosperous and prominent Boston silversmith, who helped organize an intelligence and alarm system to keep watch on the British military. Revere later served as a Massachusetts militia officer, though his service culminated after the Penobscot Expedition, one of the most disastrous campaigns of the American Revolutionary War, for which he was absolved of blame. Following the war, Revere returned to his silversmith trade and used the profits from his expanding business to finance his work in iron casting, bronze bell and cannon casting, and the forging of copper bolts and spikes. Finally in 1800 he became the first American to successfully roll copper into sheets for use as sheathing on naval vessels.

No, they are using it properly. A scare tactic is any misuse or misrepresentation of information with the intent to frighten people. This does not just include their physical well-being. Attempting to falsely convince someone that the democratic ideology is under intellectual attack is a scare tactic (which is not actually completely false, but you understand the point I'm making). When some far right speaker says that there is a political push to educate children so that they will abandon Christianity, that is technically a scare tactic, as the purpose is to frighten the Christian into thinking that their beliefs are culturally endangered. When PragerU falsely tells people that schools are no longer properly teaching American history, this is intended to frighten the listener into thinking that the American national identity is being threatened, and that is a scare tactic.
@starcrafsf7101

Trump is going for re-election and most sane people will vote against this- so present day politics are also important. PragerU is not an online university like the Open University that offers actual courses- it is a biased, uninformed series of presentations that don’t encourage critical thought or in depth knowledge of any subject. Alright, before i watch the video let's see if i can correctly remember it. Paul Revere was the guy who warned everyone that the British were coming to attack, thanks to him everyone was well prepared. Without his assistance, we'd all be speaking English right now, BRITISH ENGLIGH! ... also we'd still be under the rule of England. EDIT: I think i was right, after watching the video. EDIT 2: oh. er, thanks Airstrip?

He didn't warn that the British were coming..the very people he was warning were British themselves so it makes no sense! The poem where that line comes from was written much later when people did think of themselves as American and no longer British.

This guy looks down on us for not knowing about Paul Revere, but doesn't even mention that Revere shouted "The regulars are coming!" not "The British are coming". They were all British in 1775, why would he shout the latter?

Everyone knows about Paul Revere. He was among the first things we learned about in first and second grade. 2000-2002 at least. My only regret is that I don't remember more because it is so long ago. If you cannot watch the Futurama episode making fun of him or understand the line, "The British are coming, the British are coming! By sea, by sea!" and have an idea of what it means, you are truly lost.

Revere was quickly captured. He got the fame because his name rhymed. Dr. Prescott was the one who actually got the word circulated. Longfellow is rightfully criticized by historians for giving sole credit to Revere for the collective achievements of many riders. Revere and William Dawes were to warn Sam Adams and John Hancock that British soldiers were marching from Boston to Lexington to arrest them and seize the weapons stores in Concord. They were later (and fortuitously) joined by a Dr. Prescott. The 3 were stopped near the by British troops on the road to Concord. Prescott and Dawes escaped but Revere was detained, questioned and eventually escorted (at gunpoint) back to Lexington. In the end, of the three riders, only Prescott arrived at Concord in time to warn the militia there. But "Listen my children and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Dr. Prescott" just doesn’t rhyme. Then again, without Longfellow's poem, the entire night would have been forgotten.

Except the story of Paul Revere is an untrue legend. Dr. Joseph Warren and several others made the ride while Revere was stopped by British army, had his weapon and horse taken from him and was sent back home. Its a fake story like the battle of bunker hill, which actually took place on breeds hill.

I remember when I was younger I watched an old cartoon, which portrayed Paul Revere as one of the most important characters in USA's history. Even to this day I remember what he did. And I'm not even an American. Thank you for sharing this piece of knowledge, I will definitely be using it in my English classes. God bless you!

Its part of the curriculum to learn about Revere in public school. You clearly have no clue what is going on here. I would say you should be ashamed of the pure ignorance here, but I doubt that the misinformation you spew leaves you any worse for wear.

"He recreated it with consummate skill..." and also with many inaccuracies. Paul Revere had two other men riding beside him that night; Samuel Prescott and William Dawes. The poem is also inaccurate in that Revere never reached Concord. He was detained by the British at Lexington and Prescott was the one who went to Concord. He also never shouted "THE BRITISH ARE COMING!" There were British troops already stationed in the countryside, so he and the other riders were "discreet" about their mission.

I seriously thought that every American had heard about Paul Revere and his story. But then again, I'm in my 30's. I learned about him before i reached high school. I never realized how much the American history curriculum had gone downhill since I was in school. Now I wonder what else they are no longer teaching our children..

This is great and he is a wonderful teacher, like the kind I had in university. But there was a young lady who accomplished even more than Paul Revere, yet is virtually unknown. I had never heard of her until last year: Sybil Ludington. "On April 26, 1777, Sybil Ludington rode forty miles through the night to warn approximately 400 militiamen under the control of her father that British troops were planning to attack Danbury, Connecticut, where the Continental Army had a supply depot." She also warned the citizens of Danbury about the march of the British. Some claim it never happened but there seems to be enough evidence that it did.

Prager U, no history teacher/professor would talk about gender identity, they don't belong in the same subject. Please, just stop with the gender identity meme. I've only seen other students that are usually female talk about rape culture and gender identity, but never in history class. Teaching about gender identity is not the job of history teachers.

You think GENDER IDENTITY isn't important? Have you seen a classroom in 2017? Or...ever? Bruh? Students deal with bullying and issues surrounding gender and sexual identity every single day. You said building national pride is more important? Go away. This has no place in education.

It's funny seeing everybody talk about how odd it is that nobody knows about his midnight ride, yet they have no clue that he didn't even complete the ride. He got caught by the British lmao. There were 3 other riders going to alert the people of concord and the person who ACTUALLY completed the trip was Dr. Joseph Warren. Really funny how that isn't mentioned at all. The entire story of his ride was a fluke. Sorry to break that to you, and yes this was learned in a US school. Which is apparently so bad now rofl.
