This is a simple #wholewheat bun recipe that you can try at home. All ingredients used are readily available in your local market or superstore

LIST OF INGREDIENTS

4 Cups Whole Wheat Flour, airated (do not sieve)
1 Cup Warm Water (not at room temperature)
1 teaspoon (10g) instant yeast
4 Tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 Medium Egg
1/3 Cup unsalted butter (melted)

PROCESS

Prepare a baking tray by lining up with parchment paper or oil & flour the inside.
In a clean bowl add water, yeast, sugar, salt and egg. Mix until well combined
Add flour in batches and mix with spoon as shown in video.
Finish adding the remaining flour and start mixing with hands until smooth. At this point the dough is thick and heavy ( don't be tempted to add water)
Form a round shape. Rest the dough for about 10 minutes
Place the rested dough onto a floured surface and flatten it.
Add the melted butter on the flattened dough little by little. Incorporate butter into dough by folding in and stretching as shown in the video
Continue folding and stretching until the dough is soft and doesn't tear easily when stretched. Form into a ball and place in an oiled bowl and cover with plastic to let it rise for 1 hour
After 1 hour, flatten and divide into 12 parts as shown in video
Roll into balls and place in baking tray
Cover with plastic to let the rolls rise for 45 minutes
Bake in preheated oven at 200C/400F for not more than 20 minutes or until they're golden brown
Remove from oven and cool on a rack
