The track separated time stamps are a very nice addition ;) the amount of times I come back to this set with a track in my head, this will help learn which tracks are which :)
I CAN'T BELIEVE you recorded this set on 21st February 2021, the birth date of Ramesses II, which is the only one of two days of the year that the sun shines fully into the Abu Simbel temple and reaches the sanctuary, shining on the statues of Amun, Ra and Ramesses. What an insane birthday gift for Ramesses II. I already had the highest respect for you guys at Cercle, but this just topped it.
@jessenaylor
Жыл бұрын
I mean, the little details are simply insane. At 52:44, during the little pause in the middle of Montserrat (ARTBAT Edit), the camera focuses on the statues inside the temple and then they call out "...Ramesses..." just before the beat hits again!! This is so F-ing cool!!
@jessenaylor
Жыл бұрын
@@FredVonJoeckel well… just about. Ramesses’ date of birth of course has not changed and is 21st February, and you just about get this effect with the sun shining into the temple on this date. However, due to some minor errors in calculations when relocating the temples, the actual full effect now happens on the 22nd of February, one day later. The correct date would have been the 21st though.
@elizabethfree1849
11 ай бұрын
@@jessenaylor I was going to ask why the sun didn't shine in, then. The angle of the shadows makes it abundantly clear that the sun isn't going to shine inside like described above. Still a great set, great location and overall great video.

These guys have mastered to create a bridge between alternative rock and melodic techno. Their music is hard to qualify, a mix of trippy rock in the likes of Pink Floyd with some techno/dark beats in-between, the whole thing with some very sensual voices. Hats off.

In the Mid 60's this whole temple was cut apart in massive blocks and moved to be reconstructed to this site you see today. The building of dams on the Nile would have submerged it under water at it original site since being built in the 12th century BC.

To add, this great work project and the ethics and discussion around moving the site is what created the need for UNESCO the United Nations Heritage and Culture authority that oversees the protection and safeguarding of tangible and intangible heritage. Without this site being moved it may have taken many more years ofr UNESCO to form. This project is historic and has double meaning for those working in the heritage field.

A place with such an amazing history... What's even more astonishing is the fact that when they moved Abu Simbel, not only did they make that difficult task, but they also placed it at exactly the same position according to the sun, in order to maintain the same light effect that was so characteristic of the temple. At a certain point, when everything aligns, the light passes through a hole and enlightens the statue of the Pharaon, making him shine like gold. An amazing detail that they, fortunately, kept intact. Egypt is out of this world, I've had the luck of being there, and it is absolutely breathtaking ♥. By the way, I'm fully in love with this set. I'm a Pink Floyd fan and couldn't avoid thinking of them when they started playing. Great job, as usual, Cercle (fuc**** autocorrector), thank you for letting us discover such great musicians!

This set by WhoMadeWho in an epic location like Abu Simbel is a timeless classic already! What a fantastic destination & a spot so unique to all Humankind. The story about this temple goes beyond times, arts & borders, from: - The initial concept (immortalising Pharaoh Ramses with the gods pantheon), - Location (right on the Nile bank to greet any one at southern point of Egypt to show the might of Pharaoh & the Egyptian people), - Design (epic craftsmanship & priceless art in every corner), - Engineering (the sun beams shining on 2 days of the year all the way into the inner sanctum), ... then 3000 years later, the world collaborates to engineer up with a brilliant solution to save this amazing heritage site to all humankind by moving it 70 metres up to save it from drowning... Well done Cercle & WhoMadeWho... Epic & timeless!

Fun fact, that statues were not take place were originally built at the first time. It moves by government due flood issue.
@@PraiseworthyNobleman seriously 😐 !? Surely they are to enormous to be moved I find that hard to believe. What sort of crane can move that or it was moved just a short distance somehow

This was by far one of the best Cercle performances I've seen today. Watched the whole thing from start to finish and these guys have such a strong vibe to their music you feel their energy throughout all of their tracks. At the end of the set when they sang the final outtro, it made me feel some type of way. The music, the location, the weather, their energy, I'm truly touched by this performance. As Tomas Barfod said, 1:32:56 . Bravo
