I have owned one for a couple of years and as you say coming from a two stroke it took a bit of getting used to the power dying off as the two stroke would be taking off, having said that though they are great bikes cost pence to run and parts are for nothing so plenty of positives must admit I love mine.

Love the DRZ. This should really be tagged to one of your previous videos, but was wondering what panniers you had on the Fantic and did you need any sort of heat shield to protect, or just what comes as standard on the Rally? Many thanks

Hi. Fantic does run hot. I should have added some heat shielding. (On luggage holster thing) But got away it. Just about. (Bit melted On strap. But minor)

Got a 2022, Nothing like fresh suspension and seat, and lots of torque!........but I have to admit, I'm a Carb guy on anything 2 wheels, it's just what I'm used to wrenching on. I'm always paranoid about fuel injection cutting out, I've seen it happen....where-as Carbs will always sputter or give you a warning.

I’m guessing you are in states, you can’t get new DRZs over here. (Without costly importing )

I had one for a couple of years. Had a lot of fun on it. Had to do a lot of fixing up too as it had had a hard life since 2003. Definitely felt like an older bike but much better for a variety of riding than it should have been. Great fun on the road too.

Yep, a dinosaur but a good one. Gave it a proper test today. Good 5 hours+ of bogs, lanes, off piste riding. Shattered now. The DRZ did a good job. (Clutch could be easier though. Slightly sore left hand now. But that could be me being a wimp.)

My Drz400E definitely gets the wind in my hair ! but I'm here because I am looking into the 350exc-f.. The infamous '6th gear mod' is usually buying a ktm btw !

@@biscuitsalive whilst youre here could i ask you a question! Was the gearbox noticeably wider on the 350exc f than the drz?? Are road cruising rpms more relaxed i guess i am asking.

@@rickkin6386 no I thought excf350 gears were bunched up to be honest. But then I did have a big sprocket on the back and didn’t get round to testing various sprocket combos. So far the CRF300L has had one of the best gear spreads I’ve come across. 1,2,3 seemed fairly close for trails. And 5 and 6 pretty tall for cruising at 60/70mph. (Shame it doesn’t really have the power to take advantage of the gearing tho) I felt like both DRZ and 350excf you could get them both happy cruising at 65. But not much more without ruining gears 1,2,3 for trails. Main advantage of excf over DRZ for me was the light weight, light clutch, better brakes, and modern EFI etc for easy start and go action. Didn’t really think gearing on either was great.

Bit taller and weaker. (DRZ) Been a while since I rode the Fantic Cab Rally. But I remember it was lots of fun. Just ran a bit too hot, and standing position was a bit odd. But easy and fun to Chuck around.
