Camera guy crossed the line at 0:07 at 31 mph. Crash dude crossed right next to him, a bit faster. You can see camera guy immediately on the brakes, down to 24 mph by the time of the crash. Guy just came in hot trying to gain one more position and forgot the turn was coming up. By the time he started thinking again it was too late.

Does he normally ride a coaster brake or something? Seems like he was backpedalling to slow down, then woke up and realised it's not that sort of bike, panicked, grabbed a handful of the front brake and game over.

@Stan Zapalny Like I said; I own the same bike. And whenever you crash, handlebars are most likely to break, and so are the sifters and rear derailleur. Plus, you will scratch the carbon frame and even the wheels if you are unlucky. You will probably ride the bike on the way home, but it will be an expensive crash.

Braking while cornering will actually make it much harder for you to lean your bike; the forward momentum being stopped will force your bike to go upright.

Looks like he down shifter into the corner without actually setting the new gear by pedaling forward into it! Everyone is missing the real reason he went down. All are blaming the disc brakes, which is ridiculous. The real reason, if you watch closely, when he hits the white paint as he's going through the turn, his rear tire slips an inch or two, throwing him completely out of whack. How many of you arm chair experts have had one of your tires slip on the crosswalk paint in a turn or the water in a gutter and gone down? It's happened to everyone at those speeds, myself included. I mean, how many times have we seen Indy cars spin out at Indianapolis when they touched the white paint at the bottom of a turn?
