I second your opinion on drum mowers, nothing breaks em, nothing stops em.

I agree it's one of the best pieces of machinery I have for the money. One thing you may want to consider is to make sure you own a tedder to work the hay because it does tend to mow the hay in a pile a bit more than some other mowers which means you may have a little harder time getting your hay dry quickly without a tedder.

Yes a tedder is a must with a drum mower

ya , I got that vary same mower . I think it is awesome , it will cut anything as fast as you can go . But like you said it’s is heavy . My opinion is that you need a bigger tractor than what is recommended .

One reason they wear out blades faster is they use less blades to mow a acre think about it thanks

Why can't you adjust the height of the cut? If you lengthen the top bar of the 3 point hitch won't the blades cut higher? ...or add spacers to the bottom of the skid plates?

Look online, they make 1-3" blade lift spacers.

You can add 3 more blades...6 blades per drum. You can buy those blades directly from Poland for only 37 cents each.. but they only take international money orders.

All lawnmowers with drums have an issue of imbalance with the result that they appear damaged. Over time, soil enters the vertical rollers and the cutter begins to break down...........

Is the Farm-Maxx a US version of this mower? Tar River also looks pretty similar.

They simply are tougher than a disc mower. I own a Reese. One set of belts, no other repairs other than blades. Vetch will pull them down.

Can you use any blade? Or are the blades specific to the mower?
