This is a totally misrepresentation of how we African American should introduce ourselves to born in continent Africans. I have been 3 times and this December (whole month) will be 4th. First SA is super modern and English speaking. Secondly they love African Americans culturally. They love our music, style etc. They may not know all of our struggles in America as we do not know all of their struggles over the 200 years of oppression and apartheid. But there love is genuine all around. Yes, they do have a high tribalism which they can view you from that prospective. However if you dig deep in the financial, costs of living, and other systems economically, you will see big advantages. Brothers just need to get serious about being global moving around. Yes, the woman are super fine both urban and rural. Physically they are strong plus hard workers. A lot of these guy who are whoring will not get a quality African queen.

Tribalism is something that you'll not find in this part of the world . We're hybrid tribes . Infact technically in SA there's 5 tribes in SA because there's Nguni groups ( Zulu, Xhosa , Swati and Ndebele ) ,Sotho(Basotho, Bapedi and Batswana ),Vhavenda , Batsonga and Kgwesan (Nama , San, Kgwe) .

It's so sad because I read an article about how children who are products of sex tourism in Thailand & Philippines (which is a hotspot for American sex tourists) are now suffering because they don't know their fathers and are looking for them. It's always the innocent kids who have to pay the price and it makes me upset. Women have to ask themselves why a man would cross oceans just for cheap sex and leave his own women, they probably think very low of you and see you as nothing but an object to used and discarded for cheap. Any foreign man who's pursuing a romantic relationship with you must do so the right way (meeting your family, and you meeting his, paying your bride price, and taking his time to understand your culture, etc) he doesn't get an easy pass just because he's foreign.

It's a beautiful part of our country and definitely worth the trip, however you'll get a more African experience in the other parts of the country. As a Joburger I also love the lushness of of KwaZulu Natal (where Durban is) and another part to explore with that type of climate, but inland is Mpumalanga (translates to where the sun rises because it's in the east). Was interesting to hear the brothers' views on the women. As a female traveller who has only done fast travel, I hardly think about the dating scene because I'm too darn busy to get as much of NYC or London as I can, in a limited amount of time. Similarly, it's the same with tribes in Africa. We might all be "black" but within that you have so much richness of culture/identity. We are a very rich people. If only we can assemble *(unite)* and bring all these different spheres of richness and power to one coherent body towards particular goals/endeavors.

@@suzygirl1843 why is the African psyche centered around tribalism. This is/was the main reason why people with nefarious intent could step into Africa and destabilize countries by pitting one tribe against the other. One would think that The 21st century would be considerably different from the 16th century in the way people think, but, apparently it ain’t so. So while others are reaching heights in economics, engineering and technology, Africans are asking one another what’s your tribe, while there’s hardly any road, rail and air commerce between their various countries. Love to the brother who appreciates the beautiful South African women irrespective of whether they are Zulu, Cape Colored or Xhosa. I am sure with his disposition he would have no difficulty finding a welcoming family, and would be able to pay lobola, if required, whether it’s in Rand, dollars or cattle. Lol.

I think culture is missing from this conversation. SA's are very culturally connected. There is no way an American will be able to walk up to a SA person, especially a Zulu girl, and take her away from the family. It takes more than just approaching the girl correctly. The guy will have to pay Labola amongst other culturally-centered things. Yes, SAs are beautiful but the family will on the guy's tail the entire time. If he or anyone really wants to work and live in SA, it can not be done w/o really making friends from the region. To be IN the culture, they will at a minimum need to know how to greet in a SA language. It will be very hard to navigate w/o having basic language skills. There will always be a gap between him and the ppl around him. I think in 6 months to 1 year, he will sing a different tone. Good luck to this man, tho.

@@BarbieYunch That is true. It is not a requirement. But as someone that has lived there and is foreign, it helps. I think the person should know how to greet. They will also be navigating as a Black person, which adds complexity. In the short term, it may not matter but if someone wants to live.. basic understanding will go a long way. Or they will offend a lot of people. The US does not have a greeting culture. Even if they make friends, their friends will default to their home language... from time to time.. Can you imagine? This guy comes off as a bit less open minded and ignorant. Johannesburg by far is the most progressive city with a bit of everything and is the most diverse city in the land. Infrastructure surpasses that of Cape Town and Johannesburg has mini cities within it. I guess he is kinda poor perhaps and only been to the backpackers. Another thing about South Africa, there is no way you'd meet South Africans who don't know what's happening in America, race relations and the history of black people. I suspect he linked up with foreign nationals who live in South Africa which is always the mistake African Americans make. To be honest South Africans share a very strong history with both our struggles for liberation and Civil Rights movement in the US happening at the same time. I mean on film alone Mrs Masombuka in Sarafina is still an icon. Invictus, Denzel Washington, you name it. Idris Elba . The Black Panther .... South Africans have cross intersections juxtapose of US culture, business and lifestyle.

Remember we have many tribes (nations), which make up South Africa and its seen as a good thing to know your friends home and culture. Also, when you don't know much about a person, we speak to them on English, but if you know the person's tribe, maybe you know their language. Sorry if it seemed like it's tribalism.

SA, BOTSWANA, ZIM, ZAMBIA, SWAZILAND, LESOTHO, TANZANIA, MALAWI, MAURITIUS, SYCHELLES, ANGOLA, DRC, MADAGASCAR, MOCAMBIQUE, NAMIBIA have a total population of 130 -140 million and good infrustructure in 70% of these countries. Countries like SA, BOTSWANA, LESOTHO, SWAZILAND, MAURITIUS, NAMIBIA are easy to live in because the have viriable similarities to a large extent with your USA environment. It is extremely easy to set up shop in SA.

My man said Sandton looked old, are you sure you went to Sandton bro? 😅I agree, there isn't much development in Joburg CBD anymore, but definitely Sandton, Rosebank, Fourways are the new sections. Also you are correct on saying you look West African in South Africa, a lot of South Africans wouldn't immediately think you're American. That's mostly due to TV Shows and Movies. When you say you're American, the average person would expect to see a Will Smith or an LL Cool J looking brother.

Most interesting comment from @NoExcuse about the type of welcome he expected the first time he arrived in SA. Just want to provide context: We're more than glad you came and we appreciate that you wanted to explore our country, particularly because the other African countries get more of a spotlight from African Americans due to direct ancestry. What you and all the beautiful African Americans that we look forward to hosting, need to be aware of is that as one of the key economical hubs in Africa, we're at the airport 'cause we're travelling for business, visiting family or doing exactly what you're doing. It ain't personal, we just out here working on getting our money right 🙂. I'm commenting just after I heard you say that, I trust later on you'll talk about how we are as a nation. Much love and respect 🙏🏾

most of the derict ancestory is even false , most americans descendants are from north africa regions , libya , egypt , tunisia , morrocco , algeria , mauritania ,yes those arabs were major slave traders and used to be used for capturing black people for the money , islam , caused so much problems for black people , our brothers are actually from those occupied nations of arabs i have mentioned, some from east africa etc ,but the history is probagated as if all african americans are west africans ,its not true , some of those nations were not existing as yet , these happend before africa was colonised after the defeat of egypt by arabic khalifate , these people are just victims, only south africans was never enslaved per say but its not the whole truth .... i believe that african americans needs to do research especially on islam because it really hurt them , and they are told otherwise , we know the truth now ,ask yourself why they dont ask when and how did the arabs find themselves in north africa...

6:03 Horners (Ethiopians/Somalis and Eritreans) are in general more reserved and closed of, I think it's a cultural thing. They're closer to the Middle East both culturally and geographically and tend to get along better with people from that region. I mean Yemen and the rest of the Arabian peninsula is just a stone throw away from Somalia so it makes sense that they'd have more in common with them. Race is a social construct, just because we share the same skin colour doesn't mean we all have the same mindset, culture plays a big part in how we identify.

According to recorded history Semites migrated from the Arabian peninsula after the Africans destroyed Meroe creating Axum located in what became Ethiopia during the first century BCE. By the time Axum absorbed Kush during the fourth century CE they had married and adopted the Semites three religions becoming the first Christian state in Sub Sahara Africa.

Yeay for Durban. Actually the whole province is beautiful and clean. I disagree re Joburg (Sandton) being dated though. I know for a fact that most of the developments there are relatively new compared to Cape Town and Durban. I do understand your opinions though if your first interaction with South Africa was Cape Town. People who first land in Johannesburg and then go to Cape Town are usually put off by the social structure there. Plus, there are fewer things to do and see there once you’ve seen the mountain and the winelands. It is a beautiful city, but way too far from most of the attractions that you want to not miss.
