I think you're absolutely spot on. Sometimes it feels like people who don't think too deeply about things seem much happier, but personally I almost have this compulsion to make myself miserable by trying to understand things I know I'll never understand. I really do need to accept the mystery. I showed this film to someone (probably my 5th time watching it) and he wondered why I'd show him the most depressing film ever. I personally find it very comforting in an odd way, maybe it's because it shows things could always be worse and to appreciate what I have. oh and shana tova! 🍏🍯

I've been looking forward to this video. The announcement for it is partially why I subscribed. I first saw the film in college, can't remember the course, and was puzzled by the sudden ending. I was also curious about the opening segment of the film as well, it seems unconnected, but that is possibly due to my ignorance of the culture as an outside observer.

I actually didn't address the opening other than it's a good example of paradox.
