However, upon examination of the text, a major difficulty arises: unlike the translation "cut the hand / aydiy", and what we admit under the hermeneutical effect of the dominant interpretation, the Arabic text does not mention the singular hand / yad, but the plural aydiy and that, moreover, the pronoun which is affixed to this plural is humâ, mark of the dual case, that is to say when two subjects are involved, here the thief and the thief. So it is written verbatim: "cut the hands / aydiy of each one of them / huma [fa-qṭa'û aydiya-humâ]"! However, if in English it is possible to understand the plural "hands" as designating two hands, this is impossible in the Arabic language for which the plural begins only from three enumerated units, hence the use of the dual case when there are only two objects or people. Also, this sentence apparently orders to cut more than two hands to each of the thieves!

@rod of discipline That is not Islam. Beating wives is not ok, nor marrying anyone without their liking. These things are forbidden by the Prophet (as).To truly know what Islam is do not look at the people who practice it, look at Islwm itself. Read about it, watch some videos on KZitem.
@lorenclasku3966

@rod of discipline As for the beating of the wives, just as the woman in the video you sent me said, being a muslim and abusing your wife are not two things that can go along. Striking is not the same as beating, and it is not permissible as in a way to educate your wife but as a last resort when she does something really bad. And as far as marrying women without their permission, firstly the partner of the girl must be suitable for her. So this would rule out anyone who is seeking sexual intercourse or who would mistreat his wife. It is also mentioned that only prepubescent girls may be married withou conscent since they have no experience on the matter. As for the age of these girls, I think you fail to rationalize with it because of your cultural background and how you have been raised. I am studuying the life of the Prophet in school and as for marrying Aisha, she sent her slave first so that the slave would inquire on the matter, and it was the Prophet that agreed to marry through silence. I hope I have made a good argument and I am happy thet you are fairly informed on the matter, but you should seek the scholars opinion. I have watched a video where a scholar treated the matter and evaluated it as non permissible. Also, when discussing Islams truthfulness and whether it is the right religion or not, you should look into the verses in which the quran proves itself and all the miracles that came with it. I pray that both you and I are enlightent by our conversation. Thank you for reading and paying attention!

@rod of discipline That video shook me. I think it would be easy to see that such behaviour cannot be part of any religion. According to shariah law, the people do not have the right to take action based on their judgment, but the case must be sent to a jury where it will be judged. If they would have respected the shariah law that would have certainly not happened. I feel sorry to know that you would actually expect that that would be any muslim's mentality, including me. My thoughts on Islam and my belief in it doesn't come from the scholars, but from the quran. It proves itself to be the word of God and it proves that it hasn't changed. I agree that everyone must have his own opinion based on research. Islam begins at proving itself, and than establishing shariah law and culture in a society can only happen after a lot of conditions are met. I cannot, as a muslim, accept this behaviour to be attributed to me. To me, being a muslim begins with accepting the quran as the word of God through logic and reasoning. The quran proves itself to be what it is: m.kzitem.info/news/bejne/2qaO16WaiaSKhIY Also, it is important to understand how sharia law can be implemented: www.islamicsupremecouncil.org/understanding-islam/legal-rulings/52-understanding-islamic-law.html Everyday of my life I see the world and try to make sense of it, and more and more I am convinced of Islam's rationalism. As it is told in the quran, the world shall end, and until then society will only continue to degrade. There have always been different opinions within muslims concerning certain matters, but the core of Islam is mutual. Peace. I try to live my life rationally as much as I can, and I feel fairly accomplished at that. I see that your will is good and I am happy to have such a discussion with you. I hope I have not bored you and that you are gaining something from me as well.

I don't expect anyone reading this to try to understand but it is illogical to conclude that a law is just by using the expression "who would be worried about that?" - If that is your logic, then you can justify any punishment for any crime. Let me explain by way of example. Why don't we make the punishment for stealing the death penalty instead of cutting off your hand? After all, "WHO WOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT THAT?"

For those who wondering about someone innocent falsely accused by theft and got their hand cut off, i personally dont think it happens. Sharia itself have their laws, about how much disadvantage this punishment will affect, to majority of community or to the thief himself. The thief have right to stand for himself, defend it by an attorney or remain silent. And the victim or the one who accusing him must come by some proof and witnesses..for some century this punishment has being applied in some islamic countries, the case of innocent people being their hands cut off is just a few case. I'm Muslim, and I'm neither a politician nor a lawyer. I've studied film-making and now I study psychology. I just find the hand cutting very brutal. Now in this era we can imagine a doctor amputating a hand and then heal the wound, but what about 1400 years ago at the time of the Prophet of Peace? Do you think there were hand amputations where people screamed and sometimes bled to death? I think the meaning of cutting off the hand is not literal, but that it means cutting of the means with which the theft was done or is done, or cutting off ties with the person.
@TheWorld-of7dd
Жыл бұрын
The law about cutting hands is a very effective against man after all who will thought of stealing, even thinking about it shudders us, but this is more to stop habitual thief and hard-core thief, you cut their hand and release them, and people who saw them will think a thousand times before robbing and stealing again
@DarioHaruni
Жыл бұрын
@@TheWorld-of7dd In the Qur’an the verb used for cutting hands is the same verb used for the women who looked at Yusuf and cut their hands. They didn’t amputate their hands or fingers; they slit the skin superficially, or it may mean that they cut ties with their husbands because they fell in love, and we know that “what your right hands posses” means spouse. So cutting the hand is cutting a relationship or marking off the thief so that everyone knows who it is. It is possible that they may have cut real hands at the time of the 4 rightly guided Khalifs, but from the Quran we can derive another understanding.

Your last point has no bearing on the context but if you feel it comparative, do you think a tu quoque fallacy excuses the claimant in any way? In answer to your last question, I was very distressed and horrified when I found out that false information was most likely used to justify the scale of the attack. If you realised Islam was false information, would you also feel distressed that it was used for 1400 years as justification for pillaging, slavery and violent expansion?

It goes by the name Qasas. So it goes that if for an example a husband beats their wife, they get beaten for that. If someone kills an innocent person they get executed for that. If a psycho cuts the hand of an innocent person they get their hand cut off for that. But not YOU. No, you don't attack back and execute vengeance, that is not justice, that is vengeance. That is ignorance and tribalism. You don't go around returning the treatment back to people who did that to you. It is decided by the judge after a fair court trial and executed by officials. Yet in the Quranic verses which describe this, God always says that it is better to forgive the criminal and it will actually be a repention for your own sins in the afterlife if you forgive them and it will be a good deed to forgive the criminal instead of asking for Qasas. If you forgive the criminal, they will get a lesser punishment like paying for their crimes a certain amount of money and getting imprisoned

We should, it is the order of the GOD. Actually, think a thief he knows if he steals he lost his hand, but he steals despite this rule. He didn't mercy his own hand. Should we mercy a thief? And also in islam there are a lot of good system(baytul maal) that help people to don't steal.

I believe this is very wrong, and that's why most countries don't do this. Here are my reasons. Imprisonment or other punishments are good enough motivators. Making someone disabled for the rest of their life is bad for them and society. They will not work as good. Their family will have to work harder to support them. What about false accusations, mistaken identities , or some other mistakes ? Can you give a leg or hand back ? No. Making someone pay for the rest of their lives for a mistake does not factor in redemption of character and growth. Once a lesson is learned, why do they need the constant reminder as a burden ?

I admit that from time to time, I'm not the best at following the rule, and I have fell into kleptomania. I admit that if I were to steal again, and if sharia calls for my hand to be offed, then so be it. But my voice only arises against this for those who have been falsely accused. As I've said, I have stolen before, but the 1 thing that I was accused of almost landed me jailed for something I didn't nor would I ever do. I steal petty things like pencils, abandoned headphones, and cheap items necessary for schooling and life, but I would NEVER steal money that was well deserved and hard worked. I was accused of stealing $100 from a teacher in school, and it almost landed me in jail. If this were sharia, my hand would have been chopped for a crime I did not commit. This is why I stand against it.

Well in islam you you need three witnesses for the accusation to valid and the the witnesses need to be known being truthful and even then there would first be an investigation to see if you really stole. But this is only for Muslims for Christians we will use verdict of bible or whatever religion the person is from.
