I wish Angel had a musical episode. Lorne, Lindsey, Darla, and Spike are all shown to have good voices (though as a classical singer, Lorne's is a little nasally for my taste), and Gunn's high note in Three Little Maids shows that he has a nice voice. It's a running joke that some of the other characters sing badly (particularly Angel and Cordy), so it's hard to tell if those actors are any good. However, Amy Acker is a trained ballet dancer and could have had a Dawn-esque number. Also how dare you for including that clip of You Are My Sunshine. To this day, hearing that song instills a feeling of dread in me.

I don't know if David Boreanaz is a *good* singer, but according to...I think it was David Greenwalt, the first take of the Mandy scene wasn't used because Boreanaz's singing wasn't bad enough for the scene to work as intended, so he's apparently at least a better singer than Angel out of character.

I new to the show and gee -- Lorne made quite an impression, opening season 2. Close up on this new character, stuning make up. Makes you understand that he's going to play a great role but you don't know which side he'll be on. He looks frightening and then... sings. And what a voice. Stuning work to bring this character to life and such a great introduction to Lorne.

Two of the main characters, in Cordelia and Angel, couldn't sing. Gunn until didn't acknowledge he even enjoyed a hip-hop-like lifestyle until _Waiting in the Wings._ I don't think Harmony would be able to. Wesley was probably too busy to ever learn, but who knows one way or the other. Fred had an good voice, but also didn't seem much a singer even with a lovely voice. Doyle could have been, but was killed off before we knew much about him. Spike could. Illyria wouldn't have thought it worth her time even if being forced. And Connor doubtfully never learned. If they ever did a musical it would have to be based on Lorne doing something about the fact that none of them hardly ever do sing as we have had the mystery of why with Buffy, but we get reasons for why the AI Team singing without musical motivation from "sweet" or spells or whatever might cause a musical just by having Lorne be a part of the show. It died down once Caritas burned, but it should be the best we got as Angel was meant to be the darker half of the two shows and _Once Upon a Time_ was already in the darkest season of Buffy.

they should have at least had some flashbacks to "that time they were all singing" or something like that, as a nod to the buffy musical episode. after all, everyone in sunnydale was singing, not just the main characters. could have made it seem like the demon's reach was broader, just as a throwaway gag.

@@Angrybogan And turning into puppets, you can't forget about that. Buffy was generally more lighthearted, but let's not forget that Buffy could be darker than Angel (Example : Season 6), and Angel could let itself have more fun than Buffy would.
@Angrybogan

@@weeping_me362 As "Angel" progressed, it got lighter and funnier in parts as it should, probably as the writers settled into the characters and plot. My biggest disappointment with "Angel", (apart from Season 5), was that Lilah never got a back-story. Why was she the way she was? We knew Angel, Wesley and Cordelia from "Buffy". We knew Lorne, Lindsay and even Holland Manner's back story. Never Lilah's.
@Talisguy
2 жыл бұрын
@@Angrybogan Actually, we do learn her motivation. It's subtle, but it's there. When she's discussing her buried spark of humanity that isn't there with Angel, she says something like "my mother, who no longer remembers me, has the best room in the clinic" when she talks about why she is the way she is. This could be a lie, but we later hear one half of a phone conversation where Lilah is talking to her mother, and her mother doesn't remember who she's phoned, gets confused and starts crying. She's alone at the time. There's nobody to lie to. And Lilah's a lot more understanding and empathetic with her mother than with anyone else in the series. Her mother has dementia, Wolfram and Hart pays really well, and Lilah, by her own admission, worked very hard to become a ruthless asshole so she could stomach a very high-paying job that demanded awful things from her. She's worked at it for so long that if there was ever a "real her" that could show kindness or empathy, it's long gone. ...Or at least, so she says. We do see her show kindness to Wesley and her mother. So it's not totally gone. But she'll be damned if she ever admits that.
