Richard Machin is a senior Social Work and Health lecturer at Nottingham Trent University. He teaches social policy across various undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Health and Social Care, Social Work, Public Health, and Public Policy. His research focuses on the impact of policy on marginalised groups in society, and he has published in a wide range of academic and professional journals. Before moving into academia, he managed a local authority welfare rights and money advice service. He maintains links to the social welfare sector as a Church Action on Poverty management committee member and a freelance trainer for Child Poverty Action Group.
