I have this Flight deck and absolutely luv it. I also own the X52 pro and the Thrust Master Warthog joystick and throttle which i use on a different PC.I play star citizen and DCS. For star citizen I printed out the key bind list and singled out all the qwerty keys and assigned them to the MFD which I don't really use but they are functional. There are some people who hated this set up because it didn't come with default profiles for MS Flight Sim or whatever. The first thing I recommend with this rig is to get to know it. There are some options on the MFD that are not in the PC Velocity hanger software which need to be looked at and changed if needed. I copy pasted both the images (joystick and throttle) on the TB website into separate MS word documents and created a blank template with text blocks for all the inputs and now have a fantastic star citizen profile which is so easy to change and update. So many inputs and small profile makes this perfect for a desk top set up. I do not regret buying this at all and when I compare it to the X52 it blows it away. It's hard to compare it to the warthog because they are two different animals but I'm finding flying with the flight deck in Star Citizen (so many needed key binds) is awesome.

When I had this, the B1/fire button kept falling off. I also had problems with the stick resetting its states in MSFS, I went back and forth with their support proving what it did compared to my Thrustmaster, and they ultimately decided they didn't want to fix it, so I returned the product. The touch screen is useless for MSFS, the buttons are fixed to a single keyboard key, you cannot change them. Finally, I was having a hard time getting the sensitivity right in MSFS. I agree with much of what you said, especially the build quality and all the plastics feeling premium. I cannot suggest it for MSFS, but other things like DCS or space sims, it might not be too shabby

I think, in the future, the digital display could be made much more functional through modding and I haven't really used it as yet. I play DCS and IL2 and this is excellent for those sims - more than enough buttonage and hat switches etc. The joystick feels sensitive and feels reflective of your inputs. Throttle quadrant is absolutely brilliant. Also, the unit is a lot heavier than you would think hence it sits well on a desk as it does have some weight to it. I also like the material on the joystick and throttle - feels comfortable. Overall, for the money, I don't regret buying at all. Love my Warthog but equally love the Turtle Beach :-)

Just bought the Thustmaster t1600 but after seeing this video. I’m wondering if I should return it for the Turtle beach. I haven’t even used the Thrustmaster T1600 yet. Still in the box. This cost more but seems like it would last me much longer and have more software features. I am planning using it with MSFS and DCS. Hopefully 🤞 they will add more profile mappings.

At this price a ball and socket joint in the stick is absolutely unacceptable imo. For this price you can grab two VKB gladiators (with cams, clutches and SIGNIFICANT mod ability. Seriously VKB really went above and beyond with that thing) and a baconator and have a significantly higher quality experience. It's sad cuz I think this is actually a good product, but being priced above 200 dollars is just a massive PASS from me. TM 16000 any day over it imo. I think the bundle with the rudder pedals is like 260usd? There's just way more value there. I think if you're planning to UPGRADE from the 16000, VKB should be your next stop. It might even be you last (in a non ominous way LOL)

My issue is longevity, and this goes for most any of the mid-high end range ho(s/t)as setups. They all of proprietary software of some kind. If the company closes up shop for whatever, or drops support for that stick/throttle, you have a ticking time bomb on your hands. At least with vkb and virpil(I think), if you have the latest downloaded, you can reconfigure, but ftmp, all the changes happen in the stick, so you can plug it into virtually any machine, even one not running windows, and ftmp it'll just work. But with logitech/thrustmaster and now this, most of theirs seem to require having their software running to make any changes. Especially with logi and this having those screens. I can see the benefit of designing your own button area, but it's just not a long term solution. To me it's pure gimmick, and this looks more like a child's toy.

Great review and nice to see something that's a cut above the entry level market. This is only a little more than a single Virpil highend base, so this system will probably sell well. A few notes regarding notes regarding your filming setup. I found the top down view which was inverted highly confusing and I would put the mic on a boom arm above you out of frame. Otherwise great review as always :)

When you talk about the detent on the stick, do you mean dead zone? Because the two are very different. Or do you mean spring strength? Because detents are stops, e.g. on the throttle going from max thrust to reheat or min power to off.
@g-locmedia
3 ай бұрын
There is no deadzone that I can tell. By detent i mean its like a notch through the centre of the stick. The spring strength is contributing to this a little too. Detents aren't always full stops, detents are used on things such as throttles too, often they notched these out on things like throttles to give you a sense of positioning but also describe the feeling of large notches moving through an axis on say a yoke or stick.

warthog use is way too niche because it doesnt have whole 1 axis on the joystick (rudder) and only has pitch/yaw. Which makes its 1/3 unusable already. Then add lack of buttons/features and you get warthog... and as someone that plays space sims/MSFS2020 you do need that rudder control.

IMO 370 is a lot of money to be spending on a stick and a throttle. I think I managed to buy my stick, throttle and pedals from CH Products for like 200. But then again I haven't really had the opportunity to use a lot of the more expensive stuff because my cheap CH equipment still works and still works flawlessly. Granted, the CH stuff is all plastic and doesn't have a lot of extra buttons, but it's the kind of plastic you could bash somebody over the head with and do some serious damage. And I bought the pedals so I wouldn't need extra buttons. Also, one of my big important qualifiers when I'm looking for a Hotas is that either the control software is fully cross-platform, and I can use it on basically whatever device, or that the Hotas does not need its control software at all. But I guess that's kind of par for the course for somebody who stubbornly refuses to use Windows and continues insisting on playing games with Linux.

This looks really good for the price point and for me, would be a step up from my T16000. The question I have is do you have to run the software for this setup before loading in to your SIM? I know with Falcon BMS I used to have to run the Thrustmaster profile software before loading into BMS in order to make the stick and throttle appear as one unit. BMS has since updated and I no longer have to do that. DCS will recognize my HOTAS and I can map everything directly in DCS without having to run Thrustmaster software. Thanks.

I just upgraded from thrustmaster 16000m to the vkb gladiator nxt evo premium for the right hand and Omni throttle for the left hand and it’s been great so far. Both sticks together cost me 380 with shipping (there are codes that will get you 5% off you can look up on the internet). From what I’ve seen on Reddit the problem with this setup is that you’re paying a premium for entry level build standards, like the ball in cup design for the flight stick. It’s old mixed with new, but with almost no quality control. Some people are fine but many shortly have major issues like parts breaking and whole sections of lights becoming non functional, most complain of the laggy screen. If you’re looking to upgrade VKB is definitely the top recommendation by many, myself included now. Their midrange gladiator line is also modular so you can add to it in stages. I got twin sticks but can add more modules later if I wish and that’s not even including the options for customizing the sticks themselves. They built it so you can remove the springs on each individual axis so one can serve as a throttle unit and if you want to fly a helicopter you can remove both springs and turn up the tension and the stick will stay where it’s positioned. They really put the effort into making it a line of products that can be tailored to your needs and what you want to fly. It’s not my place to say what you get but if you plan to spend 400$ or around that I would look into VKB as they have a great reputation for build quality. You are definitely getting your money’s worth even if you spend a bit more, and it’s great that you can invest more into it over time as needed.

The point of hotas is to NOT take your hands off to press things, the exception are non combat things like flaps, gear, lights, trim. MFD's on the stick and throttle, just odd. Has been done before and it did not do well. Time will tell. At this price point and not metal........ It has sticktion, oddly not mentioned by this reviewer, perhaps he is unaware. The button s on the stick, many are not ergonomic. The base are plastic and not weighty, so they can move during significant evasion, also something not mentioned by this reviewer. Take this information however you want, feel free to verify it by checking other site. Always good to listen to at least 3 different reviewers on an item in this price range or greater.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I don't have any sticktion on my stick also I have to disagree that the bases on both are not weighty.
