id104335409 They get more and more expensive because of the mentality of the general public. The “GOTTA PAY TO PLAY” mentality is driving up the prices on EVERYTHING. These companies know KZitem is a good source for advertising. Most of the reviewers on here aren’t even buying them they are loaners from Car companies or motorcycle shops for just review purposes. But the general public is just keeping up with the next guy/reviewer. Like at the very end he says once you get into one its worth it. But they know once you take that time to sit in one and actually drive it its pretty much too late and then your mortgaging your house or spending your kids college money on a product no one even needs. Its like a boat. You can only drive it in limited areas depending on where you live. Also you have to buy a trailer to even tow it places. 🥴 They are cool as hell but in another 10-15 years these will be 50k and thats completely the publics fault for making the prices go up.

The Jeep would beat you to death, was a pain to climb in and fall out of, didnt have cargo space or a dump bed, was a pain to clean up since you could wash it out (blood, mud etc) and was far less capable. We use the SxS for everything and they've also changed the way people hunt and work. I personally think the prices are a little excessive.... As well, when you spend $35,000 on a SxS and it comes with 6 month warranty, that’s kind of insufficient as well.... I think if some brands warrantied their machines for longer periods of time it would help justify the price.... Sad that you spend the money they command and 800 miles later when the warranty is done you’re replacing stuff that has worn out.... I agree they’re capable and superior to jeeps etc especially when you get something like the Turbo S with 25” of suspension.... Either way, the price has exploded in recent years and like snowmobiling, companies would be wise to offer value models so more people can enter the sport.... Your first SxS may be $10,000 but if you like the sport, you may spend more the next time.... my 2 cents! Good video once again!

I see what you mean although my "Jeep" wouldn't brake anything. Here is my experience. Had a Suzuki with portals(military) that I recently sold. $6500, what a steal. My friend has a Polaris General, bigger tires. The Suzuki had fantastic ground clearance. Like 20 inches under the axle(this is a solid axle so it never gets below this) and 30 under the transmission/frame. Extremely overbuilt drive line and had a bumper which allowed it to make its own way when needed. Just crushed things. More like a tank than a car. Moved a container easily by just driving into it and not letting off the gas. Not a scratch. 60 foot trees over the road 3 feet above the ground? It just went over. Was comfortable in winter and summer(AC) with little to no engine noise. His General doesn't even come close when it gets really rough. But the suspension and handling sucked! There was no way to drive that thing fast. Even at moderate speed you would get the seat belt cutting you in half or hit your head in the window. Power sliding was dangerous because of the risk of rolling. So it was only good at slow/crawl speeds. By comparison his General is so agile, fast and composed.

I enjoyed this review regards to value for the dollar. Back in 2008 I found myself caught up in Polaris air cleaner debacle. Keep in mind I invested $1850 in a complete Elka suspension system. This setup seriously turned my 50 inch wide 800cc into a really great fun machine at the time. Keep in mind, I never played on sand dunes with it, only desert and UTV national park trails. After finally obtaining the Factory air filter ungraded recalled filter, I ran my machine 300 more miles, took it too Polaris dealership, watched them remove the filter, [New Factory recall replacement] still, dust getting sucked into my intake. I was seriously disappointed. My 5 year extended warranty was ending within days. As my rig was already there, I went ahead and had service do a 1100 mi. Complete service that ended up costing me almost $600 in 2012. Belt replacement, all fluids changed-that was it. That week. I sold it at a loss, a rather hefty one at that. As by then most UTV owners knew of the filter problems/recall. An after market company offered a filter upgrade, but it was $1200 plus installation. I was busy 4 to 18 hours a day with my business obligations. I ended up purchasing a 2012 MW-3 two door JK. While street legal and fun, versatile, 8 years later my PCM starts acting up, Jeep fails miserably, Jeep Fiat Corporation stopped making the needed part years ago. I was again disgusted with dishing out $43,000 plus tax, DMV and tire fees only to be screwed again with the brain-child of my entire jeep back-country reliability platform. I, at anytime while alone, could be dead with NO fixing it without having a spare computer onboard. Now a-days... I own nothing, I figure I will travel to Los Vegas and rent a new Razor for four hours, give it back, I’m done till next year. Same with Harley Davidson. Rent one for a day, turn it in. I’m done. People are commenting about the expense to ownership. Yes, I must agree. But for me to purchase a new single place Rzr would NOT be a wise purchase. My state of California plans to implement new state laws to fuel usage in the pursuit of Carbon emissions reductions. As long as I must remain here, I shall reduce my personal purchase ‘FootPrint’ to nothing other than a low crawl.... I plan to buy as little as possible to avoid the higher taxes and fees we endure now, as well as the new soon coming to a wallet near to you.

I picked up a 2015 RZR 900 4 seater with 2200 miles for $12.500. You can't compare any large 4x4 vehicle to a side by side. Side by sides are sooooooooooooo much more fun. You can go a lot more places than you ever will in any jeep. Mine is street legal and I can go nearly a month before filling up the tank. It's a great machine to take to work, and it sure as hell beats the fuel my truck uses. RZR's all day long baby!

Its definitely a life style choice between jeep and sxs. We were on the trails in idaho, passed some jeeps going in. Made it a fire look out, then over to a lake, looped to a second lake, ate lunch, then went back out the way we came. Ran into the group of jeeps. They told us they hadnt even made it to the fire lookout turnout. That sold me even more. I loved my jeep, but my sxs is hands down better when it comes to offroading out the door.

When we drive it we beat the hell out of it and im always thinkin somethins gotta break. No machine can take this kind of abuse. Every time im wrong, they are built like tanks and can take everything you can throw at em. Look around for a deal and sometimes youll luck out. So apples to apples we have better performing machines and now add inflation and the value of the dollar going down slowly every year and today's stuff looks expensive. A Mustang GT in 1990 was around $14,000, today's Mustang GTs are $35,000. But how much more horsepower, fit and finish, comfort, features, suspension, brakes and safety is in the new ones? This explanation while basic & incomplete is correct. As an aftermarket parts distributor once said to a friend of mine, “you bought an off road vehicle to ride in the woods & want it to ride like a Cadillac, what do you expect…” As these machines are being used, people find different uses for them, we & the manufacturers modify them & they respond to their market. These aren’t street legal or even legal to ride on trails in New York State, along with many other places. Also these machines aren't made for being street legal, you have to buy accessories to do that. When purchasing a UTV 5 years ago I bought a 2 person basic model with lights, roll cage & dump box for $12,000. The roof, windshield, rear window, doors, heater, radio with Bluetooth, GPS etc... are all considered extras! Yes I bought an off road machine & knew all this before purchasing, a roof, windshield & cab when it unexpectedly rains is nice & a heater is good when needed, winches are a must too. Automobiles were once as primitive & basic as UTVs were 10 or more years ago, now we have cars with A/C, radios, tire pressure sensors, USB ports, wifi capability, responsive cruise control & so many other “nice add-ons.” Self-driving autos are in testing --&’ll stay there for another few decades I bet. UTVs are as complicated & have computers controlling engine, 4 wheel drive & other functions… If we want these features on our “off road toys,” we’ll pay for it, 1 way or another. Soon we’ll no longer be able to do any maintenance ourselves, just like is happening with autos. Mechanics aren’t mechanics any longer, they’re “Automotive or Off Road VehicleTechnicians” who go to school & pass tests to properly work on these autos or UTVs. We are supporting the designers, dealer /owner, sales people, technicians, etc.. who bring us these machines, that’s why they’re $30,000.

About all I use it for now is plowing snow in the winter and riding over to friends houses nearby. Most of the main trails are posted to where you can't get anywhere without trailering and as we've got busier we just haven't bothered. My $30k+ toy is now worth probably $15k if I'm lucky. Polaris derives the 25 inch number by adding the suspension travel to the ground clearance at full compression. The Turbo S has 19 inches of front wheel travel and 21 inches. of rear wheel travel. Regardless it's still an impressive evolution over the RZR 800, 900, and 1000. Also, as impressive as the Turbo S is, saying it's comparable to a professional Trophy Truck is ludicrous. TT are built to do one thing really really well.... and that is travel at insane speeds across open desert. Different horses for different courses.

I ditched my money pit '15 Wrangler Jk. I bought it new, went off-road and became hooked. Before I knew it I was 20k into mods and a monster off-road. This was my daily driver and it's on-road manners, where I spend 99% of time were now horrible. I flushed it and got a '18 GT mustang. What a blast! 460 HP! I'll get a beater soon and get back on the trails.

I just rented one last week and rode all over the Mojave Desert. They are a hell of a lot of fun to drive. I agree with a lot of the comments. A lot of money to have sitting in a garage. Considering I do other activities throughout the year renting 3 to 4 times a year makes more financial sense to me. No maintenance to worry about or payments..

Well stated and represented. I have no idea what their profit margin on these machines is, but as an engineer, my adage has always been "how much would it cost to build this myself?". Usually, when I think it through, I realize that not only would it cost a fortune, but the labor involved along with the cost of correcting mistakes along the way (and there are always mistakes) usually adds up to "better to go buy one than start from scratch".

No matter how anyone tries to justify their price, these sport UTV's are extremely overpriced for what they are compared to a Wrangler. Maybe I'm wrong, but no UTV comes with dual front and side airbags, ABS, traction control, vehicle stability control, power windows and door locks, air conditioning, theft control system, a windshield with working wipers, etc. All of that stuff if put in a UTV would shoot the price to $60k the way they price them. Not to mention the amount of crash testing a street legal vehicle like a Jeep has to go through to even be able to be allowed to be driven on public roads either that no UTV manufacturer needs to be concerned with. Those are just a few of the obvious things I can think of that let you know UTV's are overpriced compared to a Jeep. That said, if you have the money and don't mind parting with $30k+ for a UTV, go for it. Just know that every single one sold at $30k helps to ensure the prices of these will continue to rise even further.
