Looks like your children will get a very well rounded education. I agree with you that our school system has dropped the ball on many things the children need to learn. I'm completely opposed to not teaching the correct spelling of words and just letting our children print the way the word sounds and leave it at that. No more spelling tests to make sure they know how to correctly spell a word. They don't teach cursive writing anymore. I don't know who the people that decide the curriculum are but they have really let our children down as far as education. Why not go back to teaching cooking and sewing and how to manage a household and what about shop. Why not teach them how to make things from wood and the basics of plumbing and electricity. We have all heard what a shortage there is for these trades. It makes me happy to hear that these things are important to you Kym. It will be amazing seeing your children grow up to be valuable contributors to this world. Keep up the good work Kym.

I agree Shirley. I encourage our kids to skip college and learn a trade or be independent entrepreneurs. Obviously if college is necessary for the career they choose then we will support that 100%, but we need skilled tradesmen badly. I absolutely loved my home-ec class in high school and I learned so much. I don't think they want our children to be free-thinkers and independent anymore. But that's a whole topic for another day! 🤣 Have a blessed day sweet friend! ❤️

I really miss those "fun years" when the children are young & we all did school together. I miss the crafts, too! 😊 My 2 youngest are now in 8th & 10th grade & mostly work independently, with the exception of Bible. That's one thing I won't give up! 😂 Thanks for sharing!

Awe this makes me sad and also want to do better and really try to be in the moment. I have to remind myself that the mess is worth it. 🤣 Love that you still do bible together. If you could pick one thing, I'd say you chose correctly. ❤️

Love that you do the school photos for them - I think Malachi, Lincoln, Monroe are most like you Kym and alike. Bella, Judah, Olive most like Dad and alike. Eden, Raven, Grey are a mix/most alike 😘 Looks like your all set up -do you register and follow a chosen curriculum for each grade? It’s harder to formally homeschool I imagine and you do well including all the things required, homeschool groups, activities, responsibilities etc Grey + Raven will pick up so much just being with the kids during their lesson times! I could always just read, I’m sure there was some learning done-but I don’t remember/didn’t struggle with it I guess. Perhaps being highly sensitive is my hunch Glad your in the new house, and a smooth start to school year 💜 💚

I love hearing what others think the kids look like. I can't see that any look like me though I've been told. Mostly I think they all look like Mike. Which is not fair! 🤣 We do register them with the state under an Umbrella school and then we can choose to do certain testing if we wish. When I lived on Michigan there were no requirements, so I am learning the ways here in Tennessee. School pictures are my fave! I love to look back on them over the years and see how they've changed. ❤️

If you can please share some tips of what you did to start homeschooling. Like materials you got or things to start teaching the younger ones before they start school. Love the first day of school pictures ❤

Thanks for the idea! I will definitely do this. Until then my best advice is to read to them any chance you get, and start with flashcards for all the things (shapes, colors, letters, numbers). The littles think it's fun and don't even realize they are learning. 🙂❤️

Awesome video Kym. I like your home-schooling. I Think it is better for the children. These days public schools are not as good as it was before. It all changed in 2019. They are having a fun learning school with you in charge. I love the First day of school pictures. Thank you for sharing. Love and Blessings to you all. ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏 Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
