I have developed a new head canon theory, not sure if someone else came up with this too, that every new game update is a step backwards into the Foxhole timeline when the Wardens and Colonials had the industrial and technological capacity for more types of weapons. And the end of the timeline is when there are only a few hundred soldiers left fighting with basic rifles.
@TheREPPIX

I like that theory, it makes more sense than the victory points being captured and everything being sent back to the way it was and a nother war breaking out again due to the worst politics I've ever seen

@@weebooooo Well, I started playing Foxhole about halfway through it's current development, and a few KZitemrs I've followed have footage of some of the earliest wars. With players getting excited about the recent inclusion of armored vehicles (halftracks), and before that the game was just trucks for logistics, and weapons for infantry skirmishing.

For the record, Gameplay is not typically not equal to lore in most discussions of any setting, You'd have to look more at text and visual outside of gameplay (by visual, videos to pictures). Technology and innovation in Foxhole has always been growing if we go by lore descriptions of a good lot of vehicles. Ie, Outlaws were made to try and counter mass Falchion squadrons. A update is just, a update and only serves to fill in what's missing visually, if that's the best that can be said.
@redcell9636
7 ай бұрын
@@grugmangaming5152 What you are describing is "ludonarrative dissonance" In most cases the lore does not reflect the gameplay. However, as a casual observer of this game, i'd say its a lot closer. I actually like to think with the lore implications of eldritch stuff going on, and the references to other low and dark fantasy franchises and settings, along with game events like the "zombie event" being somewhat impactful, i'd say the idea that "the lore doesnt matter" is exactly why the lore matters. _"The first casualty in war is the truth"_ foxholes limited lore and conflicting view points proves this. The world had one big "Mechanicus Moment" and are trying to retrieved their lost tech, but still _technically_ being at war prevents them from doing this. Hence each "war" that happens. This is just my take away.

Glad to be able to have helped with this video mate! Just need to comment on some stuff. The Weathered Expanse battlefield is NOT from the time of Silas Maro, he never got past Abandoned Ward and fighting never reached that far north during this time, not until several decades later. The best theory as to why there is a battlefield of relic vehicles is that at some poin the Relic Vaults of the Hanged Men were blown open, leading to their contents being used by colonials and wardens to fight each other. Storm Tanks and Armoured Tractors are also probably a bit older than the HIC and Phalanx, so they may not have coincided much on the proper battlefield. I wait patiently for the next one, remember I am always there to help you with stuff XD

Reminds me of the technological decline in BattleTech. Destruction of Industry and Institutional knowledge has meant that modern war is fought with Mechs and Tanks held together with field modification, dependent on looting and salvage to maintain logistics, and remaining advanced technology is zealously guarded.

The thing I find hardest to accept with foxholes tech is how the other counties outside the conflict don’t have more advanced tech. Like I can accept the idea of a war so destructive it set technology back for the participants, but it seems to me that everyone is kinda on the same level

@@changeling5984 true, but i feel like if they were involved in any way besides providing equipment, i feel like that would be a lot more evident. like at least some random lore bit stating something about foreign soldiers or conflict outside to caovia-veli front. the only other explanation i can think of is that this war somehow managed to continuously drain the rest of the world of resources, and even then i dont understand how that would even happen
@changeling5984

@waterbears9874 Could be a British Empire type situation where the drain on all of the overseas territories hampered anybody else's ability to advance, though that in and of itself is contradictory, right now, I consider Foxholes lore to be incomplete and inaccurate, which is a shame since it's such a unique world. Anyhow, I've convinced myself that the Bulwark wasn't breached in the 700s, but rather the 850s or even the 900s with some 30 years of incredibly devastating fighting incomparable with the first or second World War. This at least makes somewhat more sense technology wise.
@TheREPPIX

I feel like the devs are trying to miss direct us and that most the lore is incomplete or inaccurate due to how devastating the wars have been, and I also believe that time keeps repeating every time the war ends like some kind of horrible nightmare with the world caught in a loop, I mean I know foxholes political system must be bad for this war to happen in the first place but bad enough for an endless feud between just two factions? Now of course I understand that the definition of insanity doesn't apply to foxhole but still I feel like Caoiva would get a decent archon at one point that would stop this if the popular theory was the case. Don't you think the other nations would step in if a war keeps repeating or one of the belligerence make an alliance to help end the war once and for all?

Like the video but there might be some discrepancies. Technology seems to advamce pretty slowly with some momets of a arms race. The Velian Civil War was fought with Muzzle load muskets and cannons. The great wars started not long after that and The Breach was one of the first major events of the Great War so im not fully certain tanks were used to breach the Warden's great wall. A lot of weapons have a prefix such as the KRR2-790 Omen, Blakerow 871, and Lance 36 which should maybe allude to the recent centuries of Foxhole. The Year 1,000 is definately a decent guess for a date though with vehicles like the Lance 36, Flood Mk. I, and Lance 40 Halberd my guess is marked at around 940. The Great Wars have been fought not two but several centuries and like in game it is regularly a back and forth war so a lot of vehicles and tanks littering the battlefield are wreckage from centuries before in late 700 to early 800. It is very possible too that every battlefield a player fights one lies forgotten Argentis and Loughcasters, and below them Omens and Cinders, and further below muskets. And there is a reason one could say Great Wars and not Great War. It isnt one war it is multiple and possibly that multiple wars even ones actively fought by players are just combined into one larger war. I am by no means a expert on foxhole lore, but this is still great video though. A lot of ambiguity and guess work with piecing together the lore, but the Great Wars are just mind bogglingly long, intricate, and info very mixed up it is just hard to figure out all the lore.
