I don't care what anyone else thinks is worthwhile. If I enjoy using my time playing guitar then it's worthwhile to me, and that's all that matters.

@@Cpt_Adama That’s completely fine, I don’t mean to offend anyone that enjoys playing music just for themselves and for no-one else to hear ever in their lifetime. For me, I do find it a bit lonely and I’m speaking to others who may find it lonely too or crave some sort of ‘tangible outlet’ whether it be anonymously behind the scenes or more in the limelight. I would prefer the former but I’m obviously not talented enough to earn money a a sessionist/ producer.

@@MissJennyGuitar If playing a guitar is what you are passionate about then mastery of the skill is the journey in itself. It should be self-fulfilling whether you do it for yourself or professionally. Any skill that is difficult will be fraught with plateaus in skill level. Find instructors that can help you past that and keep going. Even though you may not be Eddie Van Halen or Jimmy Page, ANYONE can acquire the skill to be good enough to play professionally if they will continuously work towards the goal. There are always going to be roadblocks that will have to overcome, and yes there are always going to be people who have an easier time and learn quicker because it comes to them quicker or are a "natural talent" but remember the adage about the Tortoise and the Hare slow and steady will win the race. Comparing yourself to others is always a recipe for unhappiness. Do the best you can and surround yourself with other guitarist that are a positive influence because there will always be those that are self absorbed and negative about players that they are better than. Look at Tim Pierce Guitar channel, here is a man that is in the top 1% of talented guitarist who has the most wonderful attitude and gives great tips to everyone and never looks down at people who is better than which is 99% of all guitar players. These are the people that will inspire you, and there are many more. Good luck in your journey.

@@MissJennyGuitar One more thing, I'm a professional pilot whom is coming to the end of my career and like guitar playing is very much a learned skill that is difficult to learn. I had a passion when I was young and had to have lots of programed learning (University) and instruction with very defined goals and minimum levels of ability that was tested for each skill. Now I had to pay a lot of money and get deeply in debt to learn this, but it was my passion to fly professionally and it took around five years before I had my first professional flying job. Maybe a more structured approach to learning guitar is what you need and that would lead to a university degree, but it won't be cheap. Then your going to have to reason out whether the money you can make from playing guitar professionally will pay off the money required for the school. There is always a compromise. It took me a long time to pay off my school debt. But I did about half through my career.

@@Cpt_AdamaI admire your determination and commitment to achieving your goals. I wish I had the guts to fully commit to what I wanted when I was younger instead of being afraid and pushing my true passions to the side in fear of failure.

@@MissJennyGuitar We all fail that's life and that's how we learn. I failed many times during my training but you need to push through that and continue to practice the things that are giving you problems. Fear of failure publicly can be difficult but it's part of the process. In my career I am tested every six months to verify my skills are properly honed, it can be nerve racking because many people are observing you and your job is on the line. Not to mention random observation rides online. The longer you do it, the easier it will get, but your going to need to force yourself to be in uncomfortable situations. This is the passion part where you are willing to do anything to get to your goal, even if it means a little embarrassment. Every great player makes mistakes, take for instance Jimmy Page has made many mistakes live, but that doesn't stop him you just carry on and honestly most non-musicians won't even notice. I know it's easier said than done but try not to be self- conscious about your playing, but do be critical about what you need to improve on and take measures to improve those areas you or a trusted instructor identify. Just keep pushing putting one foot in front of the other, through the good days and the bad and you will get there if you don't quit. Good Luck.

I play for 2-3 hours a day, mostly to prevent dementia and other related conditions. I would humbly recommend this wonderful guitarist try other genres, bluegrass guitarists are very organized. Julian Lage plays bluegrass.

Hi Miss jenny, I saw you busking in Tamworth a few weeks ago. I saw your sign you put out and even have a video of you busking on the corner. I've only been playing 2 years and with an acoustic instrument. I'm nowhere near your standard, and I am inspired by your skill.

@@thesecurityorical9643 Oh wow, I loved playing in Tamworth, such nice people, I must remember to go back there. I started on the acoustic too, now it’s been so long I have forgotten how to play one properly, l honestly think it’s harder and less forgiving than electric, acoustic is the mark of a true guitarist, never give it up!

@@MissJennyGuitar well what inspired me was (Nothing else matters) by metallica. Give it a look if you haven't already, it's such an amazing expression. However it isn't a beginners song but I've enjoyed every minute of it.
