I get this. I’m Autistic and I get overwhelmed by crowds and loud noises. Recording the shows and later streaming them is very helpful. 💖

I’ve seen concerts where they save space on the side of the stage for people in wheelchairs, they get the ultimate, best seat in the house. But it’s not every concert. Shout out to foo fighters for giving their disabled fans an awesome view.

Yes! I have multiple invisible illnesses and can’t do most if any “nightlife” activities like clubs or concerts. Most people don’t get it and never think about how many people are being left out of popular forms of socializing and activities that give social capital.

Absolutely. Even if my wheelchair wasn’t such a limiting factor, the simple truth is I can’t be in the same room as another person or usually even leave my house at all without having stress-induced seizures, uncontrollable defensive behaviors, and blackouts. The advice I usually get is ‘you’ll be able to make it to concerts when you learn to control that’s…but when almost 15 years of treatment has done nothing but make _everything_ I go through on a daily basis worse? I’m not holding my breath for that. I really wish more stage shows were recorded for the same reason! Besides Team Starkid and that 1997(?) recording of Cats, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a play that was just recorded and sold instead of remade as an awful movie. 💀

There are some streaming platforms specifically dedicated to theatre! National Theatre, the Royal Opera House, and the Royal Shakespeare Company have video available of many of their current productions even! I just learned about it because the National Theatre does a like, 2x a year totally free stream, and a theatre reviewer I follow promoted it!

There are many good recordings of plays out there if you know where to look! Rent has one on KZitem which has great camera work but still feels like a live show. There’s also Broadway HD (which you do have to pay for sadly) and my school uploads our productions on here (not sure if they’re unlisted or not) but they’re very high quality and I think other schools do it too. Also, if you enjoy opera there’s a free website called opera on video with tons of recordings. If you want to know more recorded productions, ask a theatre kid. We know ALL the ways to watch recorded productions

I went to go see korn here in the uk with my friend who has Cerebral palsy and we got seat tickets on a balcony, it was a front row seat close enough to see really well. We could access early and since it was seating it was not crouded or hard to get to they even had a lift although he didnt need it on the day. 10/10 accessible they need to offer something like this more often. But with bigger artists i get it would be hard to get seats accessible and close.

I somehow happened on your channel and im glad i did! I love how your channel is aimed at teaching people without disabilities how life is different with them. My 5 year old is autistic so even though his isnt a physical disability but a mental disability it brings me hope that while his life might look different he can flourish and be happy and make "his" life work and just might need more understanding from people.

I totally get this as a wheelchair user!!!! I went to a concert recently that the audience stood for a majority of it. So, I got to just listen to it. I would have loved to see the dancers, silk dance performers and the pyrotechnics parts of the show. The show sounded amazing, but going to a concert, I would have loved to see the full performance and the artist that I paid to “see”!

I've wanted to go to concerts, but honestly I'm afraid, my health makes it so scary to be in normal crowds that the idea of being surrounded by hundreds of people all so close together when no one can hear me is just completely unrealistic for me. I rarely hear people talk about the lack of safety and autonomy that comes with disability.

i was so proud when i went to rhett and links outdoor live show with all standing. they had the ADA section right in front slightly over to the side because some people had payed for seating at the very front middle. i loved that everyone got exactly what they came for the people who payed extra for great seats and everyone with mobility aids or whatever got to still see really well. and when i asked if they had seating due to my disability they literally called extra people who escorted us while singing and jumping around. it was so fun and i felt so welcomed i have never had such a wonderful experience like that.

Yes, I get this! I'm on the autism spectrum and I do not like loud music or crowds (I had a brief mental breakdown in a bathroom at my senior prom due to the noise and the people 😅) and I like being able to go back and watch thesr things myself, without having to expose myself to something I can't handle.

This is why I was over the moon when Taylor Swift released her concert on Disney plus!!! My sister is disabled with Rhettsyndrom, she’s wheelchair chair bound and can’t walk or talk, and I love sharing my music and my fan base with her. I got super blessed and was able to go to the concert live but we weren’t able to take her with us due to her wheelchair. But the day the movie came out we both got dressed up in different eras (lover for me and 1989 for her) and we partied like we were actually there. It was literally such a special moment for both of us and I’m so happy to have her. 🩷

I have Autism/ADHD/Epilepsy. I have an amazing Seizure Alert Service Dog who is with me 24/7, who alerts to my seizures, giving me time to sit down in to avoid head injury. The flashing lights could cause issues for me due to epilepsy, the loudness is too much for both my Autism and my dog, and the crowd wouldn't be adaptable for him either. Streamed concerted are WAY easier!❤

This might get lost in the sea of people but I do hope it helps. I’ve been in a wheelchair my whole life as well, I’ve got a connective tissue disorder that leaves me able to walk but barely because of pain. It really pays to go to smaller venues because the wheelchair section is usually awesome in them. The largest venues I generally go to are around 5,000-7,000 people. In my experience the section is usually either behind the standing room close to the stage or elevated above the rest of the crowd to allow for an unobstructed view. It’s pretty specific to my area, but if you ever have a chance to see a show at the Wiltern or the Roxy they’re amazing about it. The Roxy is an old building but surprisingly accessible if you have someone that can push you through the steep ramps to get in, and the disabled section is about 5 feet from the stage

Also a great way to watch plays! Not all theaters do this, but many nowadays will film productions and make them available on streaming for a small fee. I ‘ve watched many plays this way as sometimes i just dont have the energy to go out but i still want to see a play. Additionally, I broke my ankle last year tho i had a scooter and crutches and a temporary disabled placard, i felt extremely vulnerable in public and realized that streaming theater still allowed me to enjoy plays.

I Hope you see this, because it’s true. I was at the concert that lady Gaga filmed at dodger stadium. My family and I had bought four tickets on the upper side of the stadium (I’m not sure what it’s called, but it’s really high up) my sister uses a wheelchair, but since the area we were seated at wasn’t accessible she had to sit up at the top of the stadium where they sell food and such. It was so annoying, because why make someone pay for a seat they can’t access? Not to mention, that part of the stadium seems unsafe even for able bodied people because it’s extremely slanted and narrow.

FFS. Not that it's something you should be asking but someone who comments that is only going to spam him with questions annoyingly until you get an answer so here you go: his legs were amputated at the upper thigh, so his gen1tals and pelvis, hips, butt etc aren't any different to anyone else's. His waist stopped growing due to the condition that meant his legs required amputation so his waist is smaller than the rest of his body. Due to comfort, he sits with his pelvis kind of folded underneath so he looks shorter than when when moving around using his arms. This is all paraphrased from another video to be as accurate as possible
