Good vid! I’ve just bought one. And here’s why: I want to it to last me over 100k (1’m a driving instructor). I’m a Ford fan, having owned a Mk 7 full fat ST and now on a MK8 St-line. As much as I love my Fords, I just do not believe that the 1.0 ecoboost, with its wet timing belt will last. KZitem and Google have just too many horror stories around “ecoboom” engines…. VW products also have a questionable longevity record. And yet Suzuki’s 1.4 booster jet seems to get nothing but praise from mechanics and owners. So I’m going Japanese.

As a Road Inspector I come up on a whole lot of European Cars who broke down and NEVER , do I meet in my work products from Japan!!! . the reliability of Japanese cars and Motorcycles is fenomenal !! .That's why in private I drive a Suzuki Swift Sport and a Yamaha MT09 Motorcycle . Sorry to say but that Ford Fiesta will brake down!!!

These new ones can be remapped to about 180hp on the standard parts too. Can be very quick.

I had one of these in canary yellow and it was great fun to drive and had loads of Tec standard. If they updated the touch screen it would be a really nice car. Regretfully had to sell it as the wife wanted an automatic with more comfort as we are getting on a bit.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the car. It does look great in Yellow too 👍

great review, been very interested in the MK2 version and the automatic versions as well. I struggle with manual cars a bit. Also, not sure you are aware but there is a full-grown adult-size man in the back seat.

Thank you and great points! An auto might suit this car better but it would be less engaging for the drive. Haha, yes I am aware of the owner back there 😅

I guess that the problem for the Suzuki Swift is that it is what may be described as a “warm hatch”. It is not a pocket rocket like say a Hyundai i20N and it competes with a whole host of other stuff including cheap cross-overs with slightly less power. Cross overs are so ubiquitous that being a warm hatch isn’t enough.

Agreed, its definitely in the category of warm hatch although power wise feels fantastic particularly with its low weight 👍

Have you actually driven one? They're 250kg lighter than an I30N. Torque to weight of the Swift is actually better, power to weight only slightly behind, a few percent less at best. The Swift is very quick in the low to mid range, perfect in traffic. Plus it's a quality Japanese car, I'll take that any day.

The car was a little noisy on the move and for sure my VW Golf has better sound insulation but my mic is quite sensitive also so a mixture of the two perhaps

Thank you. I've never really found a mic setup which works well or involves a lot of messing about to get it setup 😅 It's noted though and I'll keep trying to find the right balance for better audio 👍
