I think it’s also important 2 note that Catra wasn’t the only 1 who worked on improving herself. Adora did 2. Being ‘selfless’ was actually how Adora hurt her in the 1st place, since in the beginning, she placed ‘Duty’ above everything, including her personal relationships - meaning she didn’t consider how her choices affected other people or whether or not she should’ve included her friends IN those choices. After the events of “Taking Control” (with some help from Glimmer) Adora starts 2 listen 2 Catra more & c things from her perspective - which was always her biggest problem. She DID care for others but never really put herself in another’s shoes & deeper issues often had 2 b spelt out 4 her - which isn’t always easy 2 do when opening up. This improvement in Adora’s empathy was best showcased in “Failsafe” when she consistently kept reassuring Catra around Shadow Weaver - FINALLY seeing the toxic & abusive relationship 4 what it was (a FAR cry from calling Catra disrespectful towards the sorceress in the 1st ep!) Ironically tho it was also this ep where Shadow Weaver causes Adora 2 regress 2 her old toxic mindset of selfless sabotage - which is where Catra’s tough love came in when asking Adora 2 choose 4 herself. In the end - it was more selfishness than selflessness that saved the day 😌

9:50 actually it was Catra who planted the seeds of asking Adora what SHE wanted - Mara just reinforced that back 2 Adora once she started 2 question her motivations

i really liked how you explained adora and she ra being separate people. i don’t really think they were entirely separate people but catra definitely thought they were until season 5. catra never really thought she was trying to kill adora, she was always trying to kill she ra (except in the end of season 3 when she opened the portal. that was actually adora vs catra instead of she ra vs catra). and catra only tried to kill she ra once too, in the end of season 1. all the other times was just her trying to kidnap or stop her
