When it comes to brzke fluid i would make it compulsory to put sticker on the master cyclinder to say which dot. 3 4 5 to avoid confusion As to the type brake fluids used

Sir, do you advise me to change the brake fluid every two years or the number of mileage? And can I put dot4 instead of dot3 even though my car uses dot3 Corolla 2013

Wow! This is one of the most informative videos I've ever seen. I feel like I have a complete understanding now of WHY the seemingly unnecessary brake fluid flush IS in fact necessary as heck! Which brings up another question: Are the silicone based fluids Non-hygroscopic? And why don't we use them instead?

With 10K views and only 173.. Now 174 likes I did not expect such a well presented video... People - if you let your brake fluid go too long you may end up in the situation that I am in now.. The cost to have someone else do this would be very high... I am retired so I have time to do it, but be sure that my Silverado will be done very soon to avoid the same problems I have with the Lexus...

This is what I suspect is going on: The brake fluid reservoir isn't 100% sealed, some air slips past the seal from the cap. If you think about it, if it was 100% sealed then it would be such a fight to get the cap off (like taking a cap off a pickle jar) because as the brakes wear down the cylinders will travel a bit further and therefore will use fluid from the reservoir. So as the fluid lowers it will replace the empty space with air , which has water vapor. Also, since fluids will expanded when heated (hot days) and condense in cold weather you get a constant exchange of air (fresh water vapor) so now your hygroscopic brake fluid is getting a fresh source when this happens.

@@hasaywha still it is a long way from the reservoir to the calipers. I guess the brake fluid only moves less than an inch.
@andrejacobsen6444

@@Jonas_Aa The water is heavier than the brake fluid- so once the brake fluid has absorbed the maximum amount of water the water will start to separate and sink to the lowest points of the brake system witch is usually the calipers/wheel cylinders.

Does brake fluid in the brake lines mixes or recirculate in the reservoir? Or just stagnant in the lines until it pushes out? Thanks.

I have 2018 chevy equinox with 80k KM on it last week i was driving 120mph and pressed the brakes hard the brakes weren't responding as a wanted, so I went to replace the brake fluid with Ravenol DOT 4 the cap has dot 3 written on it but Ravenol DOT 4 have 271c dry and 169c wet boiling point and man even the brake pedal feeling changed. we have also 2012 Sonata Hybrid with 140km on it that we didn't do a brake flush on the ABS died and it won't drive unless you replace the ABS and it costed 1800 us dollars to replace by the way the fluid was black.... I highly recommend spending 50$ as i did to replace and flush all the fluid from the system now the car stops faster, and brake pedal is much better now and the ABS will live longer..
