Hey man I like your vids, but I think you aren’t considering a few things. #1, we don’t really know how much foul baiting has to do with low viewership #2, theres plenty of people like me who don’t wanna see post battles all day and like to see a lot of perimeter scoring, even from the free throw line, I actually really like the offense heavy style the league has grown into, i don’t like hooking, and kicking out fouls, but other than that I’m fine with it, #3, maybe viewership would be better if these media shows like first take actually promoted and talked about other nba topics that aren’t LeBron, kd and the nets, or the Warriors and clippers… I wonder how much that has to do with it because they control a lot of the narrative of the league

I think Daryl Morey was banking on this. Because that his actions make any sort of sense right? First, oversell Simmons when his value is the lowest in order to gage the market. Second, understand three things: 1) the rules benefit defensive players, 2) People have short memories, and finally 3) Simmons' trade value will be highest during the trade deadline. If we can assume that Beal and Lillard will be hit relatively hard by this rule, then he could literally wait things out and force a trade for Beal or even Dame.

As a basketball player that’s dealt with these kind of rules, it makes you as a defender feel absolutely useless. People don’t realize that when you can’t use your body to stop their “natural” offensive movements (driving, shooting, dribbling in general) then you’re no more effective than a dummy with its hands up all the time. Once offensive players realize that, they can walk all over you and there’s nothing you can do. Try and steal? Foul. Try to use your chest to close off the lane? They throw their hands up and it’s a foul. Try to block the shot or layup? They fling their arm and legs out hoping you slightly graze them and they fall over. Rules like this are important. It’s incredibly hard to stop someone when you can’t do anything to actually stop them

3 things that would clean up this whole Offense>>>Defense disparity would be to reintroduce hand-checking, actually call illegal screens, and the 'unnatural shooting motion' stuff they are changing. Personally I think they should get rid of corner 3s and extend the 3pt line to the boundary because it would increase the value of midrange shots because there's less 3pt land on the floor. Wishful thinking, I know. Also 8:06: How is that a foul???

One thing I don’t see get talked about how the NBA changed the continuation rule like 3yrs ago. Before the rule change it used to be after the whistle you can still get an and-1 as long as you don’t put the ball back down and take a shot. Now they changed it so that you can only get and-1s if the foul was called on an actual shot attempt.

Honestly I think the worst part of the NBA is shooting free throws it slows the game down so much and rather then the last minute being insanely hype it's just ok who's our best free throw shooter get the ball to them and wait to be fouled. I also really miss actual defense as you said a defender can't really defend in the NBA with the current rules so I wish they would allow tougher defense on players to get those really good match ups and have stars needing to be really good on both sides of the ball
@quickshot112

it is worrysome tho, because in their post about the rule change they showed a fadeaway jumpshot and said they going to call a foul on the offensive players for kicking their foot. I mean kicking your foot when shooting an off balance shot or on the move shot is normal basketball movement.

I agree, it's about bloody time. Foul hunting and Harden foul calls have cheapen the game. Also the media played a major role when they continuously promoted Lebron in the post season, saying constantly he will prove his worth then. Then they are surprised when the masses stop caring about the 82 game grind. That's why I loved Steph and the Warriors, they made the regular season relevant again.
