I think the US sort of “needs” a lower-wage country for factories (which have some drawbacks if in the US, including their large use/pollution of local water, and that if “Made in US,” the price of everything must increase significantly.). BUT there is no reason that a lower wage factory partner HAS to be China, and factory hubs have always moved from country to country as factories naturally seek lower wages and better deals. This was never going to be permanent. I also think that the “you can’t get the expertise outside China” is not persuasive, as once a factories start to move people will migrate to and train for the jobs in the new place. It is like saying you can’t move a Capital city as all the govt workers currently live in the Old Capital…..just start moving the buildings to the new city, and within 5 years, pretty everyone has moved to where the jobs in the new Capital. China also has many unique drawbacks, likes tolerance of fakes, knock-offs and corporate espionage, and China threatens, spy’s on and demands things of the US frequently…..not a great way to keep a customer.

At the same time the CCP/CPC invested Billions of dollars in developing and dominating the global solar panel market. So Ian has not done enough research or he is down playing what is happening in the US markets. If the US was serious about dominating the solar panel market, they would have invested the same amount that the CCP/CPC did, but they put half a billion into one company and let it fail. Afghanistan was always going to be a disaster because…Afghanistan. That is partly why the US stayed so long, knowing that it was going to right back to previously as soon as the US left, and so prior Presidents didn’t want that on their watch and instead just continued to waste tax payer money staying there. And not exactly like the US just decided to go to Afghanistan for fun….with 3000 Americans killed on 9/11, which was messy but linked most to Afghanistan.

Should be equally care about everybody's opinion across the world Example what if the people were talking about don't believe in human rights What if they simply believe that women are second-class citizens What if they're a religious minority that believes that it's part of their religion to remove the body parts of other people Once again is everyone's opinion equal

Let me correct this guy - Ukraine conflict is happening because of Russia. Russia started it. The conflict is continuing and Russia is not winning, due to the US and it's allies providing weapons, cash and training. Please get the cause and effect factors right.

The jury is still out on pretty much everything to do with the war on Ukraine so while, yes, Russia did invade and start shooting, I'm going to wait for history to figure out exactly what did and didn't happen, there's lot more going on here than Russia and Ukraine.

Nothing happens in a vacuum friend. There’s a long history there. Russia didn’t just decide to invade their neighbor on a whim. That’s the effect of propaganda and profound ignorance about geopolitics.

@@fetusdeletus5117 I know some of the Ukraine/Russia back story and agree that there's a lot more going on here than meets the eye. And while I know I barely know anything, I know probably a good part of that is wrong. So my only hard opinion is that everything I and everyone else thinks we know is wrong. It'll be 20-30 years before we even start to get the truth about what has gone on between these two countries.

What an incurious, pseudo-intellectual lightweight. Why do we care? Writers like him should give hope to others. I mean, if he can get published by serious publishers then the rest of us should be on easy street.

@@josephsmith6777 Poor you. They are both dicks in their own misguided ways. Zeihan is merely capitalising on his recent popularity (much like Avi Loeb and the aliens), and Bremmer makes several glib assumptions. See my comment in the general section: only 5000 covid deaths?!
