Marx actually was a strong proponent of democracy. This video portrays Marx’s views inaccurately. It suggests that Marx’s idea of communism is the same as Lenin or Mao’s, but that’s clearly not the case if you read them. Lenin and Mao adapted Marx’s ideas to seize power and install authoritarian regimes, just like Robespierre adapted the ideas of liberal democracy to seize power during the French Revolution. It’s not so cut and dry and as simplistic as this video argues. The history of political economy is a very complicated issue.

But I don’t think it would work some areas you just don’t qualify for an input until you have proven success in that area. Now China has nationalized the banks to be able to rule over capital growth and is growing 3 times the rate of the U.S. I certainly oppose any authoritarian government, but remember the U.S. has an inverted totalitarian system, the largest population in prison in the world, spys on it's own citizens. Communism isn't necessarily opposed to liberal democracy, you can have votes without capitalism. Also, this video implies that being under capitalism grants individuals total freedom, and that's simply untrue. When you're born in a poor area, or unfortunately you incrue great (usually medical) debt due to bad luck, your freedom is limited. In America, a very capitalist country, many a still oppressed by a broken police system. You cant induce any political change within the system without mountains of cash. How is this free?
@SeatBill
4 жыл бұрын
*None of that is true! You can't operate communism - or socialism - in a TRUE liberal democracy; and vice versa! The two systems are mutually exclusive!* There was NOTHING liberal or democratic about the Soviet Union, or with North Korea or modern China! Did votes really matter in the Soviet Union? North Korea, China? Really? Voting, and capitalism, aren't connected at birth; capitalism is an ECONOMIC SYSTEM; voting is an exercise of individual choices over government, and CONSTRAINS it! This video doesn't "imply" anything of the sort about capitalism and freedom; Hong Kong, a part of Communist China, has LESS freedom than it did when it wasn't part of China! You're trying to make the false argument that capitalism = total freedom; *that's never been the case!* NO ONE, even in the United States, has "TOTAL FREEDOM!" Everyone has laws and institutions that regulate and constrains behavior; the police protect people and keep people from murdering others at will! If people had "TOTAL" freedom, you could kill anyone you felt like; with no consequences! Capitalism has nothing to do with that! Even in Russia, murder is against the law! So trying to tie freedom to capitalism, is like trying to tie riding a go-cart, to traveling to Mars on a SpaceX capsule! People who are born in a poor area, aren't limited to REMAINING there for the rest of their lives; in a free society, they have the right (and, in my view, RESPONSIBILITY) to move to a more prosperous area by choice! Being poor isn't permanent in a free, open society; just as being wealthy isn't permanent; circumstances and personal choices govern those outcomes as much, if not more, than where you started out at the beginning! If you have great debt, your responsibility is to either pay it off, or ask for help in mitigating it.... not demand that OTHERS pay it for you, or expect that you can always be forgiven of it! People in those situations still have freedoms; the freedom to get better, higher-paying jobs in order to pay off the debt, gain more education in order to start a business and use its' success to pay off the debt.... or relying on social safety nets like the local community, churches, or state for assistance. "Bad luck" isn't the be-all excuse or result for EVERY circumstance; sometimes, *people just make bad choices and decisions in their life. The problem is, we've moved AWAY from personal responsibility - and have created "rights" so that people don't need to face up to those responsibilities!* The police system in bad neighborhoods, cities, and states isn't "broken," *people who willingly commit crimes against others - especially people in their own neighborhoods - are the ones who are "broken"!* Are there bad cops? Yes; just like there are bad doctors, bad ministers, bad government officials, and bad people... all over! Does that ALWAYS, AUTOMATICALLY mean "oppression"? *Only to people who want to create oppression, ferment it, and use it for their own gain!* Martin Luther King induced political change without a mountain of cash. So did Gandhi, and Mother Teresa, and many others! In fact, they all ended up creating the circumstances for MORE freedoms; not LESS.... as a result of their actions - and none of them ran for office, or had a billionaire supporting them, or a corporation behind them! *If people WANT change, they can BRING ABOUT change; money has very little to do with it! When you convince enough people of the justness of your cause, whatever it might be.... then CHANGE comes! The problem is; *change almost always comes with pain, and effort, and loss; very few people are strong enough to push through all of that in order to get to the other side! That's why few people try it; it's easier to wait for it to happen on its' own, or by someone else's actions... than your own!*

My question to you is which one is greater, or in you view, right? The word is when the people voice their opinions, but when a lesser group with vas wealth has a say. Who’s opinion is listened to more? A regulated structure in any democracy is the most even balance. Tax the rich to prevent influences in government, regulate government benefits to prevent abuse by the poor, and create an environment a middle class that is able to overcome obstacles. That is a balanced “democracy”. What you speak of is left up to an obvious interpersonal of the word.

WHEN AN EDUCATED MAN CHOOSES TO LIVE IN POVERTY, AND RAISE HIS CHILDREN IN POVERTY, THAT IS ABUSE. When Marx and his wife and children were living in London, a visitor wrote a description of their lifestyle in their 3-room flat. Not only did the Marx children have to endure the hunger of poverty, they were raised in filth, or what his friend described as "a pig-sty". There was not one good piece of furniture in the flat. There was a chair with a leg missing, a sofa "tattered and torn". The table where Marx sat on his backside to read and write was covered with pages of his writings, with newspapers and books, his glasses, his inkstand and pen, and his pipe, as well as dirty and chipped tea cups, dirty spoons, and whatever else someone dropped there, such as some children’s playthings and his wife’s sewing. Everything in his flat, according to his friend, was dirty and covered with dust.

I feel like there’s an incessant use of “ liberal” in this video. Seems like a subliminal mind fuck to me. Music that makes you feel emotional, pride in America.. talking shit about communism which really isn’t relative to American politics. At least no more so than it ever has. They want you to subliminally associate liberal to Democracy, and to make your brain subconsciously associate the opposing party with communism. Seems to me like a response video to the prager university ads about socialism. No political bias one way or the other on my part, just plainly spoken. But gosh doesn’t it make you mad how the brainwashing works! Both sides do it tho.

I'm delighted with many of the responses; communism, socialism, liberal democracy, socialist democracy... are all socio-economic concepts. They are all theories with different focus of the elements of society. What succeeds or fails is due to... people. The system that can accommodate the imperfections of Mankind best is "good" but any system can corrupted. Capitalism is being gamed by small groups to insure their influence; this is not capitalism's failure but the failure of how we practice it. The Communist Manifesto (1848) is put into context by The Industrial Revolution... the other response written in 1842 was not JUST a charming ghost story about a man regaining his humanity. Dickens's A Christmas Carol was an appeal to all to prevent the inequality of that New Age.

Soviet Union fell becuase people where persicuted and restricted, in China you are tracked on your cellphone and cannot leave the country without being a 'well behaved citizen that submits to the government'. That's where it fails. Lenin once said some thing to the effect of this: "Why should press and freedom of speech be allowed? Why should a government who knows what it is doing is right in its own eyes be criticized? Ideas are more fatal than guns. Why should a man be allowed to use a printing press to creat opinions calculated to embarrass a government?"

To the people who make this channel: you're not scum, I know it, because nobody is. Actually their economics were realistically their only saving grace. Capitalist regimes did a metric shitton of democide, they just left the countries in ruins afterwards. in the USSR there was a shortage of food and lack of work. People did not have access to all spheres of activity (especially politics).
