It was an honour and a privilege to work with you to bring this insightful, compelling and impactful talk to our TEDxBrisbane stage, Katrina. The young people of today and future generations are depending on us to respect their rights to have this information and comprehensive relationship education, so it is at their disposal when they need it.

Excellent talk Katrina. Thank for your tireless advocacy. In countries that prioritise this education, their young people have better outcomes, that is a fact. Knowledge is power. Fear-based ignorance has no place in the health and wellbeing of children. We can no longer ignore the evidence to do so is neglectful.

A very powerful, moving and compelling argument…… there was a lot of emotion in Katrina’s delivery there, but also a hopeful optimism that change is possible….. and moments of humour in what is otherwise very dark topic. Let’s hope it moves the heart of educational policy-makers around the world, for its a very important issue with global relevance.

Here you go. I'm 55. I wish I'd had this kind of education before I hit adolescence. Thankfully, I had learned enough by the time i had children that I was able to give my own children this kind of education myself. Unfortunately, it took me two more decades to recognize that I had still not learned those same lessons.

I learned a great deal from the book What women want men to know, sorry forgot the author. I also took a course on conversation confidence back when it was a series of cassette tapes. "Health class" in high school was just an STD and pregnancy scare class. I went through many years of heartbreak and being manipulated before I finally found and married the love of my life. It's too late for us to have kids but at least it wasn't for nothing

That's true and fully understandable, however children should not be introduced to these topics and concepts too soon as they are not able to comprehend them. It can hurt them psychologically.

@TedX : Could you add some online available sources for parents, teachers and for youngsters to the topic? Maybe even of the speaker herself? Thx
Did she even prove why consent education isnt enough??? Consent is perfect. Ask then listen to the response. Its like asking me to watch a video on "why driving with your eyes on the road isnt enough?"

I cant watch this. Can some brave soul just tell me what she wants? Why wouldn't consent education be enough? I mean what else is there? Also is she at some point going to tell girls that they do not get a pass to put their hands on men? Consent is paramount. I dont think there is a single ethical or moral or practical argument about getting consent, listening and hearing. What else does she want??

A good takeaway, from what I've heard here, is; If men were manly, women were womanly and both were taught to respect one another, these issues would resolve.
@OakInch

No. It is a veiled attempt to push the sexualization of children. It has nothing to do with consent at all. That is just to confuse the stupids.
