He was abused emotionally by his dad.. that’s why he didn’t get as successful because of the timing, he wasn’t his own person and he needed to heal. He opened up about his experience on Jenette McCurdy’s podcast, called Empty Inside.

Both Davids ( Cook & Archie) are still coming out with new music and touring! They may not "superstars" but they are able to make a very comfortable living doing what they love AND have the freedom to do it without answering to anyone. Both artist have a strong supportive fan base instead of people that just follow whatever the newest hottest trend/musician is. Just seen David Cook in concert on November 1st. Awesome show!

its funny that they dropped him for selling 65k when most of today's artists are struggling to sell even 50k first week. 750K first week these days is Taylor swift and Beyonce numbers, and they are the biggest in the world right now. They were too hard on poor David. 65k isn't that bad!

Some people just fade away from the spotlight and that’s ok. Not everyone wants to be mega-famous. Just doing music as a career is a success to most artists on its own. Idk if it’s just me but it kinda irks me when ppl assume someone is a flop just cuz they’re not as famous as they used to be. If they’re happy and still doing well, that’s not a failure. Mega-fame isn’t the one, singular form of musical success. 🤷♀️
@mochintea9969

Thank you for saying this! David specifically did not want to be famous. His parents wanted him to be. He just really loved singing. And he realizes now as an adult he was not ready for it all. His dad ruined his career too by abusing David so much that he could not represent himself, and people did not want to work with him as a result. Even back then, he expressed doubts that his music career/fame would even last a couple years. He just knew he'd always love music.

I love how *honest* covers these lost/forgotten artists that had an impact back in the 2000s. I was shocked when Archuleta lost against Cook. David A was so popular amongst preteen/teenage girls at the time. I genuinely felt sorry for the kid cuz i knew back in 2008 that he was gonna have to come out to a religious family one day. It seems like he’s doing amazing, though. I love the new single *Movin’* ; as the track has a more mature sound compared to his bubble gum pop sound in earlier years. However, *Something ‘Bout Love* & *Crush* are still guilty pleasures of mine. Thanks for doing this video 🤙🏼

One thing I've loved about David Archuleta over the years is he always pays respects to the black artists who inspire him. He is heavily influenced by RnB, soul, and gospel and can subtly infuse it in his live vocal performances. When he says "white Chris Brown", he means his label tried to exploit that. They wanted him singing Chris Brown type songs because he was a huge teen star. Basically exposing the label trying to bite off a black artist.

David Archuletta is smart. He is not as popular as some of these well knowns in his generation because David didn't sell his soul. He is not willing to suffer like Bieber, Usher and a few others. If he had given into the industry he would be all over the radio with back to back #1 hits but he would have all sorts of mental and drug issues.

People supporting the queer community will always be good but I hate how the support is used to protect people from criticism. If someone knows / largely suspects they’re gay/lesbian and dates someone of the opposite sex, gets them to fall in love with them and proposes with them only to break their heart and have the person find out their entire relationship was built on lies and their partner being “in love” with them was always a lie then that’s terrible and shows a shellfish nature. People need to be held accountable
@nocandiedyams2827
10 ай бұрын
This is true, but there are a lot of nuances in David's case giving that a lot of those hardcore Mormons don't think anyone is gay (you choose to live a gay lifestyle) - they think people "struggle with same sex attraction" and encourage gays and lesbians to marry opposite sex partners, many of which are aware of their love's "struggle". A lot of Mormons marry young and early, whether they love the person or not. The church says that thats the only way you have eternal life. singles are said to be in limbo, not going to heaven or hell essentially. It's a fucked up cult. You can criticize David, but it's important to remember that what he did was considered normal. Even after telling the women, they were still willing to move forward, somehow thinking there was a way to make it works. That's what they were taught after all. He has apologized and all that to them. I know he is best friends with one. Not sure about the other 2.
