I've owned the Glock 22 and 23 (Gen 3) And you're actually right. During the pandemic, it's all i could find for handgun ammunition. The recoil is marginal compared to 9mm, But the .40 I've learned, hits harder and is more adept for penetrating barriers than the 9mm.

@@spnfirearms Main reason I got my first 40 was back in I think 2009 S&W had a deal where you can get a sigma and get 3 free magazines for it, and I noticed back then that 9 and 45 was hard to find because of the election but 40 was all over the place so I picked it up.

Glock came out with gen 5 40s&w pistols for the Brazillian police market and began offering it in the US because there are still several of us who appreciate the round. This was the first generation from glock in 40s&w to offer a beefier slide and rail made for the higher pressure round instead of using an upscaled 9mm pistol. Fyi, the gen 5 40s&w line pistols no longer have compatability with the holster of their 9mm counterpart because of the larger slide.

I have a Gen 5 Glock 27. Other than the fact that the Gen 5 G27’s slide is wider than on prior generations so it doesn’t fit in most G26 holsters, I prefer it to a Gen 4 G27. For me, felt recoil is a bit softer on the Gen 5 model. Great pistol in a very effective caliber.

At the beginning of your video you state: “Nobody carries a 40 anymore.” That statement is totally inaccurate! I carry a 40, my wife carries a 40 and countless others still carry a 40. In fact, if you live in one of the many states like I do that restricts its citizens to 10 round magazines it makes total sense to carry 10 rounds of 40 caliber over 10 rounds of 9 mm. I hear arguments like 9 mm ammo has improved over the last decade. True, but 40 caliber ammo has also improved and is even available from many companies with 10 mm ballistics and the beefed up Gen 5 Glocks were reengineered to accommodate the enhanced 40 caliber rounds which is reason enough to buy the Gen 5 models.

I believe it will go full circle again, where the .40 will make a resurgence. Yes there is a little bit more recoil in the .40 as opposed to the 9mm, but in the hands of experience shooters it is negligible. What I find funny is those who use larger grn 9mm +p ammo for "superior" ballistics, which then basically has more recoil then some .40's, don't get it.

I use them all the time, but for top reliability, I have the mindset not to use finger or mag extensions. I know people will have shot impressive numbers of rounds through various pistols, but I am pretty sure for myself, that mags can be a point of reliability issues. I’d be interested to know other’s experiences, in terms of retiring mags to range use or noting random failures on well used mags.
