As much as i would have loved to see a Canadian get the national team gig, the fact of the matter is that this current team could be seen as a "golden generation". Wasting that on home soil in '26 could be catastrophic. If Marsch can get this team a decent way into the tournament, i don't care how it happens but it needs to happen.

Not worried about the MLS teams influencing the men’s roster but they will definitely try to influence the younger groups (u21 etc). Those rosters are already MLS academy centric and I could see the MLS teams putting pressure on the national program to keep other younger players out. MLS has one goal MLS and they will do anything to kill any perceived competition. Just like how Rodgers/Bell will do anything to kill potential competitors like OS

The reason that the CPL/CSB are not involved in this investment with Marsch is because they're not going to donate money to hire a non-CPL coach. They wanted Bobby there as a success story they could pump so Kevin had to go outside to get money for an appropriate coach. CSB have been buying up L1 leagues all over the country to help secure even more voting control in the CSA, they're not only at the table, they practically own it. Kevin inviting 3 bigger sharks to sit at that table is a counter weight. He's a smart guy, he knows how bad the CSB deal is and he's doing whatever he can to try and wrestle some power back.

First of all, I should tell you that I have been enjoying your podcast. But please tell me, does 'One Ball Gin' ever say anything? I only began watching your podcast a few shows ago & he hasn't said a word. Today he looked so bored, I thought that he was going to fall asleep, when he rested his head on his arm/hand... I thought that maybe he was only taping the show & somehow he showed up on the podcast by mistake. Also, why does Jimmy B look so disinterested & grumpy or angry most of the time. I have seen him getting interviewed or commentating on other shows a number of times over the years & I have almost always been very impressed by his knowledge & his great way of communicating his thoughts in a positive manner. He quite frankly looks annoyed most of the time here, like he really doesn't want to be on this podcast at all. I'm not saying that participants of a podcast should be 'Happy-go-Lucky' kinds of people; but it would be nice to see them look like they are actually enthusiastic about the topics being discussed...

What's this BS about the MLS being "an American League?" The NHL, MLB and NBA are each "an American League!" Pro sports for Canada IS integration with US leagues. And it's time for Canadian soccer fans to face reality: if the MNT does not do well in 2025 and ultimately 2026, the CPL will fold. There is no market for the CPL under the current level of market interest. One Soccer or podcasts like this one only get a very small number of views and viewership.

The NHL is only an American league because we handed it to them. MLB and NBA each have one Canadian team in imitation sports, so who cares. Pro sports is integrated (other than the CPL and CFL) with the US, but it _shouldn't_ be. We're an independent country.

@@juliansmith4295, I love Canada as much as anyone; but our Country does not have the population to support having our own isolated top of the line professional sports leagues & compete on a global scale & pay the top athletes competitive salaries. It's just not a realistic wish. Apart from being members if these much larger American run leagues, the best we can do is have support development leagues such as the CPL, Junior Hockey leagues etc... or to settle for a secondary league like the CFL.

@@juliansmith4295 Why shouldn't it be? 30% of the country lives in 3 cities. So you want a hockey league where Halifax and Saskatoon competes against Toronto? And then you want to do the same for baseball and basketball, and you think there's sufficient market for that? What are you, twelve? Canada benefits greatly by participating in US Leagues.

What's been disappointing is this team falling flat for 1.5 years under amateurish leadership. If Marsch changes that, it's a big success whether you will remain disappointed or not.
