The aliens from Majora’s Mask are actually based off of the Flatwoods monster, a historical account of extraterrestrials from way back in the day that was drawn later on. You're blowing my mind by associating the Flatwood Monster with Nintendo. In addition to Majora's Mask, if you google image different artist renditions of it, lots of them look like they'd fit right into Paper Mario or Luigi's Manison. Other renditions look more like the creature that hides under Slenderman's bed but just ignore those.

Something that's also scary about them is that if you manage to see one without it attacking you, if you fire an arrow at it, it'll dodge the arrow by tilting it's head forward or back, then turn to you and stare at you for a a few seconds. They also stare at you before their eyes light up if I remember correctly, so you just see this thing dodge an attack as fast as an arrow shot, then just turn their head to you without moving the rest of their body, and stare at you with these empty dark eye sockets.

I remember renting Majora's Mask from Blockbuster, finding out you needed an expansion card for it to work, my mom coming home the next day with an expansion card, and then playing it for a few hours. I couldn't figure out how to do something (Forgot what) and let the time run out, and then saw the moon crashing scene. That freaked me out SO MUCh, I promptly returned the game and didn't play it again until I got my Wii. Since I was an adult at that point, and was prepared for the creepy stuff, I enjoyed it despite the occasional freeze and crash. Ever since then, it remains one of my favorite Zelda games because of how different and in depth it was. There was a creativity behind it that other Zelda games just don't do. I kinda wish they'd do another Zelda game with a similar motif, where all the story lies in the side quests rather than the main quest.

@@Dan_Roland At least this game seems to have plenty of new areas added on from the original game, and the original world will presumably have different content, so it should still be a lot of fun. That said, I do agree that it isn't as hype as if Link and Zelda had been transported to another world to explore anew instead of a world that's only half-new. The main hope, then, is that the Koroks and Shrines are replaced with something more meaningful to explore à la past Zeldas.

I didn’t know what made this more than just Botw with some sky islands, and with the 6 year dev time and no obvious reason for it, I was worried it was a troubled project. But then there was an art book leak. I looked at it and it actually didn’t spoil anything I wouldn’t have minded seeing in a trailer. OK, I think I have the most terrifying/stressful/unsettling dungeon possible, hear me out... The TP art style and brightness/darkness Add in a lore as dark as the Arbiter's Grounds (like the Dungeon is both in the mortal realm and the realm of the dead). Put a s* ton of creepy enemies and traps (go at the bottom of this for enemy ideas and what kind of traps). Make the celling of every room seem super low for claustrophobia and the void seem super deep for Acrophobia. Make a Wallmaster follows Link trough the whole dungeon (because stress) (no sound or shadow as warning (like TH)) Put a lot of skulls as decoration in the walls, floors and ceilings (many types of skulls: humans, mobs in the game, animals). Blood as decoration a little everywhere (make it look it comes from behind a door in some places). Instruments like in Bottom of the Well and the Shadow Temple (now add skeletons on them). Add a dungeon gimmick where a Stalfos spawns everywhere the player gets a game over. Final Hours music (but make it get louder as the player goes deeper (like Ganondorf's organ)) (Shadow Temple second choice) A section like the boat of the Shadow Temple where enemies just get on the boat Coffins everywhere (with some of them falling like in TWW and some containing mobs) Opening certain chests triggers some traps and enemy spawns The cursed water in the Ancient Cistern (make sure you get some waterfalls that come out of giant skulls at some point) Every once in a while, a laugh of Skull Kid from MM plays Make the walls act like in Jabu-Jabu's Belly where they move (can always make them look ghostly). Jabu-Jabu's Belly ambient sounds (Mini-)Bosses ideas: Armoghoma, Death Sword, Gomess, Dead Hand, Blind the Thief, Stalblind I'd say to add a Phantom Hourglass and/or Phantoms gimmick, but that would take too much from the Temple of The Ocean King (but Fantoms in a 3D game would be incredible in my opinion) and wouldn't work well with the rest. So, the enemies I was talking about, I was thinking *Anything turned into an invisible version. *Skulltulas (the TP version preferably) *Redeads and Gibdos (give them the TWW scream too) (No Sun Song allowed). *Dead Hand's hands that stick out the floor and the walls at multiple spots in the dungeon *Stal mobs like in BOTW (yes they pop out of the ground at any random time and you'll never know the kind, when or where). *Floor masters with the style of OOT that look severed like Bongo Bongo's hands but make them act like the TWW ones. *Flying pots. *Poes (TP style). *Wizzrobes with the behaviour of PH (make them look like Wizzro). *Bubbles that come out the void. *Archers of some kind that shoot from super far away, you never know where they are and they have a slow shooting rate. *Like-Like (drop them from the ceiling in unexpected places) *Zombokoblins or any zombie version of common enemies. *A new enemy that takes the appearance of random NPC' you've seen trough the game but in a creepy version (White eyes Ilia and Link in TP for reference or an undead versions). And for the traps (yeah OK I ran out of ideas quick) *Fake floors in which you fall (like what the Lens of Truth allows to not _fall_ for) *The eyes that shoot fire but put them behind fake walls (go back one line for explanation) *The spinning scythe from OOT *Spikes that pop up when you get close *Ceiling slowly lowering to crush the player (the walls version always works) *Arrow shooting traps that you don't see

reading through the comments is making me realize part of what makes Zelda so intriguing to me is the horrifying parts of it I loved Breath of the Wild but it's kinda missing the overtly messed up stuff so I'm really hoping Tears of the Kingdom leans into the creep factor cause the BotW worldbuilding is fantastic but the things you struggle against are entirely driven by Ganon/for his sake but like (and full disclosure I haven't played/finished most Zelda games I just watched a lot of Zelda stuff as a kid hfgjdgskjgfkg) Redeads in OoT are so messed up bc it's like they're driven by survival or duty to the royal family (...saw a theory video going into that) Twilight Realm overall manages to be scary because you find out they're not just sent by Zant or Ganondorf but are just trying to live somewhere they don't belong, and even the Light Spirits scare you by warning you of power... and then just the various people and their spirits having their own motivations and being wary of each other Skyward Sword I know only a little about, but the guardians in the realms where you collect tears make you feel like you're trespassing and they're just doing their job executing the unworthy you get the idea BotW has very little coming after you that's not sent by or done for the sake of Ganon, and the various civilizations are mostly on good terms... which aids in keeping you from getting too lost/detached from the main story in such a giant world which on its own keeps you immersed-- but it removes the inclusion of more complex/thought-provoking/disturbing themes. anyways oh my god this comment is too long I'mma stop talking

I think if tears of the kingdom is just botw 1.5, it would have come out a lot sooner. Nintendo knows how big of a deal zelda is and this is the longest development cycle for a zelda game. They have to have done something big for this game. The cryptic nature of Nintendo’s marketing has made me kind of skeptical, but I’m exited nonetheless and there’s no development team I trust more.

No, I am honestly not at all excited about Tears of the Kingdom. I'm interested in seeing how it'll be different, but I don't really like Breath of the Wild that much (it be my least favorite 3D Zelda), and what I've seen of TotK just seems...weird. It's giving me Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts vibes; not just the whole car thing, but literally that it just barely seems like Zelda at this point. Not really hyped for it at all, though I'm sure I'll enjoy it well enough. But nothing about it seems all that exciting so far.

I think I'm in the minority, but I really haven't seen anything about the game that makes me conclude TOTK is anything but BotW 1.5, which is fine... but just hasn't really grabbed me. I don't get what the big picture is on what separates it from the last game, and aside from the story elements I don't think any of the trailers have shown off what the differences are either. So my only remaining assumption is that there's not all that much different. Which I won't lie, is a little deflating

admittedly i don't have much of an interest in the zelda series (they're fantastic games, i just didn't really grow up with them or get too into it). but despite having never played wind waker or phantom hourglass, spirit tracks is genuinely one of my favorite games of all time. maybe cuz i played that one as a kid, but i replayed it recently and had a blast. i love the puzzles + the story (especially zelda's role in that game, i love that she's basically your companion throughout it). all this to say the brief clips of spirit tracks cutscenes showing up in this video made me unreasonably giddy. they made me smile and bounce in my bed. so, i guess in case you were wondering if spirit tracks has any fans: it's me. i'm the spirit tracks fan

Dude…the Skulltulla house scared me as a kid. Like I was 6-7. I didn’t really read too much when I was playing, for better or worse. So I just walk into this random house and there is this Kronenburg monster man-spider descends from above….and there’s more of them!

Yeah. Tears of the kingdom has no real estate in my brain. Nintendo is fucking up so bad, and taking so long in attempt to not fuck up between game announcement and release. - That my brain is like "cool we get whatever, whenever, and it will probably suck. But it'll be exciting new zelda, pokemon, whatever for a week or two." Honestly. Nintendo could go under tomorrow and my feeling would be "guess the fanmade gaming community can finally really thrive."

No, I am not excited for Tears of the Kingdom. I am in the 0.00076% of people who disliked almost everything about Botw and will not be purchasing a new Zelda game when it's released for the first time in 20 years.

I'm surprised the Cubus Sisters (I think that's what they were called) from Phantom Hourglass were not in this video. Definitely disturbed me a lot as a kid. The Ghost Ship is just in general a lot creepier in Phantom Hourglass compared to Wind Waker.

I'm hyper for TotK but the problem is it's been revealed for so long (albeit without a proper title) that I feel the hype has already kinda fizzled out. I'm sure it'll kick back into gear closer to the release!

I’m not so excited for Tears of the Kingdom based off the previews. But I’ll have to wait it releases. Btw, the BoW blood moon is pretty scary yet I love it.

Armo Gohma from Twilight Princess will never not be terrifying to me. I have been scared of spiders since I was young. I remember normal Skulltulas bothered me. But that boss had me actually afraid

I'm surprised the death of that ancient spirit boss in Skyward Sword wasn't included (with the creepy kid laugh) Also ngl playing wind waker as a kid, those redeads scared me to death everytime I hated those things

Maybe do the video on TotK after it releases. I feel like there’s already so much discourse about whether it’s a new enough game before it’s even released. Still, it would be neat to see your opinion pre-release to see how it stacks up to your opinion post-release.

I was excited for Tears of the Kingdom, but the most recent trailer just took it out of me. Idk didn't seem like what I was looking forward too, but we'll see when it comes out 🤔

I like my medieval fantasy games to be just that so I do not care for breath of the wild at all. Anyway I highly doubt that you can even beat these new Zelda games with out using the stupid I phone thing lol.

ngl the redeads in totk werent as good as previous zelda games (no hump or scream attack) but still cool to see them but some of them crawl on the ground kinda fast which caught me off guard lol

I'm not excited for tears of the kingdom. It just seems like breath of the wild one point five. I would rather that they would have waited until the Super Switch comes out.
