Why did the beaver cross the road? Well, to get some trees, of course.
This video shows a beaver in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan heading across a small road in order to access some small trees.
In cold climates like Saskatchewan, beaver habitats freeze over in winter. Beavers have to build a large food cache near their lodge during the fall months so they have food for the winter. Beavers don’t actually hibernate, even though they are in the lodge and out of sight for several months. They still wake up every day and eat from their food cache. The two small trees that the beaver retrieved in this video were destined to be put in the food cache to be eaten during the winter.
