Because he'd be more aggy when you stop him lol. I have way too many nephews, and as soon as you try to run interference... they will trip out more. Lol. You gotta let them express and be the calm. They'll eventually learn the calm as well.

This is why fathers are important. Women immediately want to comfort and validate false feelings. The black community is full of violence over hurt feelings.

I remember this vid. We can all be in distress for a few minutes. You allowed him to round out his feelings. You reassured him, he would not have to be alone always. (Very important). You let him work it out and when he came to the end of his understanding, you were there for him when he needed you most. You did the best thing for him. Bravo! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

I'm in grad school training to become a child therapist, and this is so healthy to help little ones learn to manage their emotions. You didn't scold him, didn't leave him alone, didn't tell him what to do, just gave him the freedom to work through his emotions in his own way while staying nearby. It's not uncommon for kids to purposely hurt themselves just to test their limits, and he didn't take it to a point where you'd have to intervene. Good parenting :)

You handled that great. This video was my first exposure to your channel and to Uzi. I'm glad you showed what came next in this one. You allowed him explore his own emotions and when he was ready to express them you encouraged him. As a teacher, I see too many children who are not allowed to do this and they end up expressing themselves in most inappropriate ways. I just recall one of my blind pre-K students with multiple disabilities acting out and I had to encourage him to use words and feel safe with me to use them to say how he felt. Later his mom told me that she and the dad had separated and the baby missed his dad so much. No one had said anything at home leaving him confused, frustrated, and sad. You are doing such a good job with your babies. I pray more young parents join this channel. I'll be sure to direct them here.

I just found your content, I commented this elsewhere but I really appreciate how respectful you are to your kids and how developmentally appropriate you make that respect. I also feel you do a good job of not showing too much and letting your family grow behind the scenes and giving us specific pieces to get points across. You more than deserve all the success you have made.

Not a parent, but when I saw his reaction, I immediately thought he was expressing his frustration, as you said, because he couldn't go with his siblings to school. Nothing more.🤷🏾♀️ Same scenario as a baby when they get frustrated & start pulling their hair. 😉

In anycase, he communicated with Uzi, so that's good that he understood what Uzi was doing and why he was doing it. You're not jumping in and rescuing a child everytime something happens because you can't always do that.
