It is always nice to hear the other parts of the story we are not seeing on the Alone show. There always seems to be so much more. I do like the ways this season is going better than seasons previously.

Thanks for the Backstory ! What a phenomenal Experience for you, and everyone to see it on Film. No bow and no kill is perfectly OK !! Actually it’s even better than OK , it’s great ! You survived anyway thru Alone obviously, the moose wasn’t injured and wasted, and Life goes on for both of You ! - I have hunted moose with a gang of guys before, and we dropped one Bull one yr at like 9am, and it was dark, nighttime, by the time 8 of us got everything back to Camp . Big game are Big Work !! 🙏🇨🇦❤️

You are absolutely correct about not knowing what may have happened and I know several big game hunters who have made the decision to leave their bow or rifle only come across an opportunity like yours. Well done on the calling.

Great story, thanks for sharing. This is the only time I wish I had TV, so I could watch Alone. I'll wait till it's on the internet I guess. Got my first deer last fall and it was a steep learning curve dealing with it all by myself, gutting, skinning, hanging and the butchering ...it turned out well but I said to myself there's no way I'm pulling the trigger on a moose without a few experianced helpers even If it fell with one foot on the road and one in the pickup truck. They are just so huge and heavy! Probably a blessing you had no bow that day.

I do hunt and having watched the show I’m not sure if I would have shot the moose if I had the bow with me. That’s a big animal to butcher alone even if it was a clean kill and fell where it was. It would have taken a few days to break down and move. A cache would have to be built and the meat smoked to avoid spoiling. A major task and a lot of calories used up. Plus every bear, wolverine, fox etc I the area would be on to it. I really would think about it before making a shot.

My parents and I have just started watching Alone this season and are loving it. We are definitely cheering for our friend Kielyn who just lives down the road from us...okay so we've never met but St. Joseph Island and Wawa really do seem like just down the road to Espanola in Northern Ontario terms. You've done us proud! We loved hearing the rest if this story. My mom wants to know where you went poop. My dad thinks Dave must be a pretty incredible man. My parents have been adventure partners for over 50 years and even this year spent January and February off grid, 70km behind Searchmont. Any backstories you want to tell, we would love to hear!

Yep, TV shows edit for drama, not for the whole story! I think it is awesome what you did. I love the fact that you cried cause ya, things happen, you cried, got over it and carried on. I was once told that tears are transformation and that beautifully ties in with what you said about your resilience being tested. I'm not a hunter but if you had got the moose would that have drawn other predators and led to other problems? I also love the respect that all participants show about hunting and taking a life. You are Queen of the North! :)

That was interesting. I like hearing more of the story - I wish the Alone producers would put more of the story on the show for each of the contestants & just have more episodes if that's what it takes to do so. Thank you. I admire you for what you did on Alone. I'm rooting for you to win. What if more than one of you makes it to 100 days? What happens then?

Val Here Good question. Several of you definitely have a good chance to win, and that is just what it is... a “CHANCE”. It can go your way or not, but be proud. Everyone of you are game-worthy. You have several fans. Good luck. Wish I was able to apply, but my health, age, and bag of required medicines negate that possibility. Oh to be 30 or even 20 years back into my youth, I would give it a serious shot. Again, I wish you the best of luck.

Big moose sister. The whole time you telling your tale I was like So she gets the shot, then what! Even if you'd killed it, could you have drug it to a place where you could dress it out. Would you have had a good area to do so where you could work deftly so to fend off predators that would come in? Could you get it all sliced up to dry it, build regretting you'd need in order to dry it so as not to lose it to predators? Damn huge job for one little woman.

Hi Keylin! I'm a great fan of the show and very interested in your opinions on further episodes. Have you been in contact with previous contestants? Also how do you feel about what they are showing on tv versus your actuall experiences out there? They show so much drama and so little buscraft and survival. They tend to edit out successes like your awesome moose calling which clearly worked, the awesome shelter builds and the results of those efforts. They made it look like Shawn took a bath and lost his ferrorod in one day but that wasn't the case he explained. Same as for Keith who wasn't sick just that one day. He had been throwing up for longer. Not to mention Rolands oxcapade where you see a shot of him sneaking up on the ox with an arrow notched and than one minute later they clearly edited his voice in saying he has no more arrows. They cut something out here aswell. Do you feel the show does you guys justice? or is it too much dramatized?

So you were calling a moose but didn't have your bow? That could have gone much worse if he was annoyed with finding a human and not a girl moose.
