Our utility kit comes with 4-500rpm stall springs, roller weights, and a secondary spring. The competition stall kit comes with just wet clutch springs that stall out to about 8-1000rpm.

I've recently purchased a 2012 outlander EFI. It is new old stock. A leftover from last year. Never ridden. That being said, I purchased new tires. Same size as stock, more aggressive tread. Swamplites in 26x10x12's. Same measurements, twice as much tread. So far, she runs great. No slip. What should I be looking for, or listening for if I'm running into trouble? I've never owned a quad. I've been a dirtbike man for 40 years. Recent shoulder injuries have put me on four wheels instead of two.

What would make a primary "snap" into disengagement with one spring, but not another spring. It moves effortlessly in and out when I have it taken apart, so nothing is sticking. The stronger spring is the one that does it. Weaker spring is smooth as butter

There is originally from Polaris silicone on the backside of the cover on the motor side and that may be leaking and not the cover seal that really is all I can think of if not wanting to use silicone or snorkels. You may want to use dialectic grease on all electrical connections to help with corrosion.

@2trx400ex2 We would suggest going to the EPI economy clutch kit WE497030 which will change the wet clutch springs. This will give the machine more low end power and a faster throttle response. It will help to get the bigger tires moving. If you are always in the mud you can go to the competition stall kit which is WE497212 for the maximum low end through the clutches.

Most Yamaha's, Arctic Cat and Suzikis and Kymcos use a wet clutch system. You will have three clutches, the main two the belt runs through and then internal wet clutch. The little springs would go into your wet clutch. Also note that on many of our clutch kits we use a generic picture and parts may vary by model and year. IF you call us with your exact model we can tell you for sure what is in your kit. Thanks

In most cases the clutch kit will help you out a lot and its hard to find lower gears for a lot of the machines other then some of the Polaris. When they use lower gears on wheelers they change the gears in the transmission, not in the front and rear differentials like you do on trucks. The Sport Utility kit for the 27-28" tires will give you better low end and midrange power, faster backshift and throttle response and will grip the belt better then stock.

I'm sure everyone is asking questions. I have one, I have a 1999 Honda Forman 450ES, TRX450ES. I am looking at 27" Kenda Executioner tires. I am running stock everything besides getting a 2" lift spring. I want to know if I should change the clutch now or wait? Would I need a Competition stall clutch kit for my primary, as well as a heavy duty clutch kit? I will be mudding a lot and pulling people out of mud as need be. I will also be just riding this normally outside of mud pits. Any idea how much your clutch kit would be? How is your kit compared to say EBC? Thank you!!!!
@EPIperformance
10 жыл бұрын
Honda uses a different clutch then the other brands so our clutch kit is a little different. The economy kit raises the engagement 300-500 higher then stock and the competition stall kit raises the engagement 700-1000 rpms over stock. Both of these kits only change the wet clutch springs. If you go to the performance upgrade you will also get new friction plates for the other clutch on the machine. Any of the kits will give you added performance over the stock clutching and be a big help when riding with the larger tires. You get better low end and midrange power and faster response out of the clutch. Hope that helps, let us know if you have any other questions.

The pink will raise your engagement up a little higher then stock which will help get you more low end power and response. The Almonds secondary is stiffer the your stock spring and will backshift (downshift) faster then stock and grip the belt better then stock. if you are running stock size tires you might lose a couple mph off the top speed, if you have larger or heavier tires then stock the top should stay the same. Its a pretty popular set up on your machine.

There is no break in period for the clutch kit its self, but if you installed a new belt you will want to break in the belt for 20-25 miles. Yes that higher engagement is normal on that machine. MrPittsburghJ As you go up in elevation your engine makes less horse power due to the air, whether its a atv, snowmobile car or truck. Yes we can, we would need to know what size tires you are using and what type of riding you are doing. You can find them on our website also at www.epiperformance.com The part numbers for your machine are WE436188 through WE436197 for all the different kits.

We would suggest using the Sport Utility Kit for 27-28" tires even if you don't use that big of tire. It will make up for the power loss up the bigger tires and also help with the rider weight. It will help you for all around use, better low end and midrange power and acceleration, faster backshift and throttle response and will grip the belt better then the stock set up. Hope that helps let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks

@EPIperformance

You would want to use the Sport Utility kit for 27-28" tires. There are two different version of the 2006 500 Sportsman. The EFI version with EBS (WE430503) and the HO Carb. without EBS part number WE435013. Both part numbers are for the 0-3000 ft elevation range. Hope that helps, let us know if you have any other questions.

Yes a clutch kit will help make up for the power loss of installing the bigger tires. You will get better low end and midrange power, faster backshift and throttle response and it will grip your belt better then stock. You can decide between two kits with your 28" tires. You can go with the Sport Utility Kit for 27-28" tires or the Mudder kit. Both kits will do as described above, the Sport Utility kit is our best all around set up if you are doing a little bit of everything with it and the Mudder kit is more focused on the getting more lower end to help turn the bigger tires even better, but you will give up a little top end mph for it. Hope that helps.

I would use the Sport Utility kit for 27-28" tires which is our best all around kit for you with that size tires. You will get better low end and mid range power, faster baxkshift and throttle response and grip the belt better . You should definetly notice a difference.

You don't absolutely need one but the kit will give you better all around performance and give you better belt and clutch life. If the tires are light and not super aggressive then I would use the Sport Utility Stock Tire Kit. If the tires are super heavy and aggressive then you can bump up to the Sport Utility kit for 27-28" tires.

Hondas are a little different then all the other brands. We offer two different styles of clutch kits for that machine. The Economy kit which will raise your engagement 300-500 rpms or the competition stall kit which will raise your engagement 700-1000 rpms over stock. Most people go with the economy kit and are happy, but if you want to make it the best it can be then you will to go the competition stall.

@EPIperformance
9 жыл бұрын
MrCameronArredondo On the Honda we only change the wet clutch springs. they are stiffer then the stock spring and raise your engagement 300-500 rpms which will help make up for the power loss of the bigger tires and will make it more responsive when you are on and off the gas. If you have the engine apart it is the perfect time to install the clutch kit. Part number for the kit is WE497010. Let us know if you have any other questions.

@EPIperformance
7 жыл бұрын
The most common problem that would cause that is that the plastic cover is warped or has had enough pressure on it from kids or your feet resting on it. When this happens the cover eventually starts drooping down and rubs the clutches. Usually need to change the front and rear plastic cover. Could also be a sign that your clutches are out of alignment which can be caused by a loose or broken engine/transmission mount. Hope that helps.

in most cases with 30" tires we would have you use the Mudder clutch kit which is designed for 28" and larger tires. If you are doing a lot of high speed road riding and using the top end then we would have you use the Sport Utility kit for 27-28" tires. Both kits are the same price and same amount of parts, they are just tuned a little different.

i have a stock 03 honda 450 rancher s. i notice a clunk in the front facing part of the motor when i rev up from an idle. would it be a safe assumption to say that this noise is coming from my centrifugal clutch, and if so, what is the remedy? just new clutch weights? thanks mike
@EPIperformance

Hi Mike, its hard to know for suer without seeing and hearing it. It could be a worn clutch, broken clutch spring would be the two main things unless its something worn out in the front diff and your hearing it up there.

@@EPIperformance Ok. I really appreciate your reply back to me. As my hunch was the clutch since i noticed it upon initial acceleration from idle. Thinking that the clutch pads were wore. Will this sometimes wear on the clutch hub? Would it be possible that i need to change this hub also due to excessive wear. Thanks!
@EPIperformance
4 жыл бұрын
@@mikecochrane2074 Yes it can wear on the hub also. Usually the last 1/4" to 1/2" of the pad material will wear, then as it slips it will wear groups into the hub. Im not sure what the wear spec is on the hub but usually I tell people if you have blue or like a burnt look on the outside of the hub from being hot and overheated or if the grooves are deep then replace the hub also. You can look at the clutch shoes and see the material isn't real thick. So if the grooves are even just a little deep it will wear out the next set of pads quick also.
@mikecochrane2074

@@EPIperformance Yes, and i am a firm believer that if you have it apart now, replace everything now instead of regretting not doing so. I sent you this video link, the knock/ clunk is more prevalent near the very end of the video. I hope this will help verify my suspicions. Thanks alot for your time! kzitem.info/news/bejne/kmukx2eJnHWgeo4
