Good day, I am new in spoon carving. I have a long way to go. Thank you so much for sharing your story of your journey. It resonated with me and it is an inspiration and encouragement to me to continue my journey in carving, and mold my character to be pleasing and creative. Blessings to you. From the Philippines 🇵🇭

Watching you while you share yourself, I learned important lessons how you prepare and axe carved out the spoon from a piece of wood, amazing 😊

Great discussion, and one i can totally relate to. It occupies the mind and brings mind-body into one piece (peace). There's no room for error (injury or wood goes into garbage pile), hence there no room for bull-sht. What axe was that? Is it from Kharkiv forge or some related vendor?

Most things have the potential to be meditative practices, say tetris which is like stacking wood piles for instance. Stacking wood turns into a flow state of tossing pieces into a well locked puzzle and if you search for it there's people who make art out of how those all lock together viewed from the side. Satisfying splits like having pieces fall into place! You seem to really get that value out of Carving and it helps to see how to get the same value of really getting the process as you involve with all the other things you like but don't quite have an intuitive line to see through.

Interesting. I have been woodcarving for years. I have never met another human being in real life that had any interest in carving.

I haven't done it since I was little but it was also all around me growing up lots of people everything from chainsaw statues to whittled spoons. Realizing I should help make sure it's seen more!

At 10:44 I get the impression that the axe is very, very sharp. Is the edge ground to an angle like a sushi knife or is the edge still axe-like?

It's still an axe...30 degree inclusive hollow ground with a flat over the top. Very sharp
