If you want full legal representation we can help you at our sister law firm. Please email for details. (Redwood Legal no long exists as a law firm, we have moved to another law firm.)
I record an irreverent vlog in which I complain about the way lawyers seem to be able to charge you the full amount, win or lose - and whether or not they run your case well or badly! I open the lid on what law firms' agendas really are, particularly the large ones.
I also look at how you identify a decent lawyer. (Not just going on the Law Society's Find A Lawyer Service, which is just a starting point. solicitors.lawsociety.org.uk)
There is nothing wrong with lawyers being paid handsomely, if they are getting a great outcome, just as it seems to me that it is not right that they can just hedge themselves with clauses in their retainers which mean they get paid in any event.
In the context of a legal landscape in which access to justice is being increasingly denied to middle-income earners, I conclude that "reduced" or "discounted" no win no fee agreements are the way forward, but there are of course some cases where it is not appropriate.
But you should make sure a lawyer will, at least, consider running your claim on a no win no fee basis.
