They just wanted to charge the high minimum and high rate for more equipment than was needed which is now the norm for most tow companies. Good thing Matt is there for a check on them. Great work!

The Ram van did well with a good driver, didn't need a yank...plus it helps knowing to shut off traction control.... the nanny systems cause more problems.... FWD does have advantages sometimes, as well as easier to tow if needed, can just wheel lift it & the rear suspension still carries majority of the weight of those packages/cargo.

You would think instead of all the crappy rental vans they would spend some money to get a couple decent 4x4 vehicles with some proper tires on them for those sand roads. likely cheaper in the long run.
@swappedoutZ71
8 ай бұрын
I grew up on a beach, and there were several shops around that did 4x4 conversions on vans and work trucks. Funny thing is, NONE of the delivery companies ever thought to spend with them. People are cheap, and careless, and stupid. They'd rather just rent vehicles because it's cheaper than buying something to help your employees perform their job better.
@plaid13
8 ай бұрын
@@swappedoutZ71 Those van conversions are very expensive from what i have seen. But a 4x4 suv or pickup truck with a cap on the bed works perfectly fine for that sort of delivery. It is just silly that they would rent and pay for this kind of hassle.
@swappedoutZ71
8 ай бұрын
@plaid13 it takes money to make money. We are talking about delivery companies here not just some average working man who needs his van converted. Cost should be of no concern when you need a dependable vehicle to get deliveries done on time. You'll make the money back through good service and less time/money spent on tow trucks
@plaid13
8 ай бұрын
@@swappedoutZ71 I agree 100% but I just think they would go with an SUV or a truck that was 4x4 from the factory first. At least if they had good management looking at how money was spent.
@swappedoutZ71

@plaid13 van has the most cubic ft of storage and is the only vehicle that you could get without seats from factory. They won't offer an suv like that so they'd be wasting money paying for seats. It's just a money game lol and it sucks dude

As someone who lives in rural agricultural part of florida... in my opinion it should be incumbent upon people who live down these roads to "maintain" them if they want deliveries etc. Delivery vans (and that includes 4x4 mercedes and sprinter and doge vans) are largely useless offroad when they are weighted down by all the parcels and cargo and stuff. If they (delivery companies) have to fork over whatever it costs to get these vehicles unstuck from same roads... they need to say.. no more deliveries to XYZ... pick up your parcels at so and so location. Alternative is to leave packages at beginning of the bad road and let customers deal with it. I have seen many delivery drives where I live do just that. They look at the road and are like ohh hell no... bam your package is left in a ditch being consumed by fire ants and at mercy of tropical thunderstorms.

A rotator is a heavy wrecker that has a rotating boom like a crane It’s the big boy truck for semis The problem is all the tow companies want them as a status symbol and push them out on light duty work so they can charge big boy prices
@ralphnorris-vk8ff

These towing companies are getting way out of line with their prices! My neighbor dropped his right tires of his grain trailer off in a small creek. The towing company refused to do anything till he unloaded the train, so he rented a vacuum to transfer the load to another truck and called them back. They brought a rotate and picked up the back of the trailer and moved over 10 feet and the bill was 7000 dollars! They weren't there more than 45 minutes!

100% they seen what company that was "stuck" and went into predator mode. This is why OUR insurance rates are so high. I dont expect any company to not make a profit but charging more than what you could go buy a 4x4 to pull your own stuck vehicles out with is a bit excessive.
